Aside from eating, one of our top national pastimes has got to be visiting the karaoke. We’ve all struggled with bookings this year so Easties, you may be excited to hear that there’s a new joint in the ‘hood.

2. Visit a food market on Siloso Beach with >30 stores

Light up your evenings at Siloso Beach from now till 31st December 2022. At the return of Sentosa GrillFest from now till 13th November 2022, stuff yourself silly all through the night. There are 31 vendors selling all kinds of street food like Charcoal Grilled Bourbon Coke Striploin from Homeground Grill & Bar and Lobster Hokkien Mee by Charcoal Wok.

The inaugural Sentosa Food Fest has a whole bunch of events planned for foodies. The lineup also includes a Food Truck Fiesta running from 18th-27th November 2022 and Craft Beer Jamboree with fizzy brews for your drinking buds, from 25th November to 4th December 2022.

3. Take the little ones to a pop-up Baby Shark indoor theme park

Don Don Donki’s Miracle Shopping aside, Baby Shark has got to be one of the biggest earworms of all time. Kids – and admit it, parents too – can’t get enough of the character, so be sure to add Marina Square’s Pinkfong World Adventure to your weekend plans.

The 14,000sqft playground features 4 attraction zones and 16 interactive games all themed around the iconic shark. There are ball pits, carousel rides, and AR games – much like some of the best indoor playgrounds in Singapore

4. Enjoy a family breakfast buffet “in the wild” at the Zoo

If fancy hotel breakfasts and aesthetic brunches have nothing on you, consider having your most important meal of the day out in the “wild” next weekend. Singapore Zoo’s breakfast programme is back after a 2-year break.

5. Explore the Southern Islands on a bike or scooter

The Southern Islands have always been popular among Singaporeans looking for a pseudo holiday but if we have one gripe, it’s that it’s a little too ulu. There simply aren’t that many facilities there. Now, St. John’s and Lazarus Island both get a handful of fresh entertainment thanks to a new GoGreen kiosk. Rent a bike or scooter to explore the islands on wheels from $25/2 hours.

6. Go on a starry date night at a $1 observatory in Woodlands

Among the many date-worthy ideas that have returned is the Woodlands Galaxy CC Observatory. In case you haven’t heard of it, the attraction is a heartland observatory near Admiralty MRT with a NASA-grade telescope.

7. Dive into a new sport at a waterfront carnival at Marina Bay

Strider bikes, kin-ball, and boccia – tbh we have zero clue what those are too, but you can have a blast finding out at PAssion Wave @ Marina Bay’s upcoming Waterfront Carnival.

Dive into a lineup of wacky sports at this 1-day-only event where kids and adults both get to try something new. Archery, laser air pistol and e-trishaws, kayaking, and dragon boating are some of the other sports you can experience.

As with any legit carnival, there’ll be food booths with popcorn and candy floss, as well as typical carnival activities like inflatable obstacle courses, airbrush tattoos, and electronic animal rides. All you need to do is register on OnePA and purchase a $10 ticket to attend.

8. Play free arcade games & enjoy highballs at PLQ pop-ups

Millennials are simple folks; we hear arcade, we go. Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) isn’t just a food haven – this November, they’ve got a neon-themed pop-up called Gamebox filling the outdoor plaza. Head into each booth to find 10 free arcade games. There are classic hits, as well as multiplayer ones to go ham with your friends and siblings with.

Jazz up your next GNO – or BNO –  with a Jim Beam pop-up happening at PLQ Plaza in late November. There’ll be bar snacks, finger food, and of course, highballs – with unique flavours like Matcha Lemon and Lime and Salty Highball.

The biggest flea market in the ‘hood is happening for one day only. To register, all you need to do is download the Goodhood app (iOS, Android) and register for an account for free. While you’re there, also pick up clothes and groceries from other “gifters”.

10. Immerse yourself in anime at the Anime Festival Asia 2022

One of the largest anime conventions in town, Anime Festival Asia returns with full force in 2022. After a 3 year hiatus, bringing their A-game with a 3-day-long festival at Suntec with dance competitions, anime screenings, and meet-and-greet sessions with popular cosplayers.

Be ready to fill your shopping bags as there’ll be plenty of merch from popular anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan. 150 creators will be present as well. You won’t even need to leave the event space for lunch as we hear there’ll be authentic Japanese street food at the event.

11. Visit a Doraemon exhibit at the National Museum of Singapore

Not to be confused with 2020’s Doraemon’s Time-Travelling Adventures, The Doraemon Exhibition is a brand new exhibition arriving in Singapore from Tokyo, Japan. The robot cat themed exhibition has been touring ramen land, and Singapore is its first international pitstop.

Visit to check out Doraemon-inspired artworks by 28 Japanese contemporary artists. You can even find a collection of original drawings of the Doraemon manga on display, as well as a gift shop at the end to bring home some cute merch.

12. Snag free entry for ladies at a neon-lit nightclub

Call up your clubbing buddies for a visit to the new Luxe, a 4,000sqft LED-lit hang in town that takes over the space of Bang Bang. They’ve got all kinds of music playing throughout the night, from EDM to 2000s hits.

If staying home’s what you need to feel rejuvenated after a long week, lean back on that couch and pull up the ‘flix. Our childhood storybook Mr Midnight now has its own adapted series on the streaming site: Mr. Midnight: Beware The Monsters.

Cosy up under a blanket and make some popcorn to enjoy Season 1’s 13 chilling episodes. This series was also filmed in both Batam and Singapore so you may even recognise some of the film sets.

14. Have the kids go wild at new and reopened free playgrounds


The school holidays are right around the corner and if you’re looking for somewhere new for the younguns to burn off all that excess energy, free playgrounds are always a good bet.

While visiting IKEA Tampines, check your mini me into the just-reopened Småland children’s playground. Go furniture shopping or feast on meatballs in peace as your kids go wild with the free 1-hour drop-off service.

For an outdoor adventure instead, Choa Chu Kang has a newly opened kid-friendly park with 3 themed playgrounds, an interactive fitness corner, badminton courts, and a soccer pitch at The Arena @ Keat Hong. We’ll bet the kiddos will be sleeping soundly at the end of the day.

15. Check out Pokemon Go Safari Zone at Gardens by the Bay


Calling all aspiring Ash Ketchums. Pokémon GO Safari Zone will be returning to Singapore at Gardens by the Bay. In 2019’s edition of the event, we saw dancing Pikachus and a large inflatable Lapras.

Attendees of this year’s event can expect to encounter characters themed around Pokémon Air Adventures including Flying Pikachu, Lapras, and Maractus in-game. 17. Wander down Orchard Road for early Christmas lights

We all know the drill by now: Christmas in Singapore is a >1-month long affair. From 12th November 2022 onwards, Orchard Road will be adorned with pretty Christmas lights and mega-sized trees. This year’s displays stretch 3.1km and come with AR features and festive music all round. 

Come December, there’ll even be a Great Christmas Village carnival with rides, live music, and F&B vendors.
