Tanjong Rhu Promenade – Lookout Tower, Aesthetic Bridge & PCN Shortcut From Kallang To Marina Bay

Tanjong Rhu Promenade

You may have realised from our many nature parks and reserves that albeit small, Singapore sure can pack one heck of a view. For a great lookout spot without having to travel to the far reaches of Singapore, try Tanjong Rhu Promenade, centrally located near Kallang.

Marina Bay might take the cake for best skyline views, but coming in a close second is Tanjong Rhu Promenade. Surrounding the Kallang Basin, you’ll see residential areas on one side and the Singapore Flyer and CBD skyline on the other.

The aesthetic Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge is just a stone’s throw away, with majestic inverted V-shaped support structures that tower into the sky. Crossing this takes you to Stadium MRT and the area’s three malls – Kallang Wave Mall, Leisure Park Kallang and Singapore Sports Hub.

Head further down south of the route and you’ll also come across Benjamin Sheares Bridge. Wander under the bridge to catch this view of Singapore’s skyline:

Waterfront PCN trail from Kallang to Marina Bay

Beyond just a photogenic spot to capture shots for the ‘gram, Tanjong Rhu Promenade is also paved with a Park Connector Network (PCN). Around 1.5KM long, Tanjong Rhu PC forms part of the waterfront route that takes you from Kallang to the Marina Bay Area, offering panoramic views from start to finish.

Perfect for those without a car, this path means you can access Bay East Garden a.k.a. Gardens by the Bay East – via a 20-minute walk or five-minute bike ride from Stadium MRT. View the route map here. It’s pretty much a shortcut if you want to explore the Marina Bay East Garden area, without having to drive or take a taxi in.

Visit Tanjong Rhu Promenade

Despite lying near popular attractions like Kallang Wave Mall and Gardens by the Bay, it’s surprising that Tanjong Rhu Promenade flies under the radar for many of us. You may have spotted it while cruising by the ECP highway – I’ve passed by about a million times but never spared it a second glance, until I stumbled across the area while cycling past.

Rather than going back to your usual haunts, KIV this for your next outdoorsy adventure without the crowds.

Getting there: To get to Tanjong Rhu Promenade, take a train to Stadium MRT. Take Exit A and take a 5-minute walk past Singapore Indoor Stadium to get to Tanjong Rhu Promenade.
