Free boat rides to Lazarus Island’s reopening
While many of our beaches were affected by the oil spill incident a few months back, most of them got cleaned up pretty quickly. However, the spreading of the oil spill to Lazarus Island has taken slightly longer to clear. The wait is over, though, as Lazarus Island has reopened with beach and water activities resuming.
Yes, that means we’re good to jump into the sea and indulge in activities such as kayaking. And there’s an added incentive to head over during the next few weekends as Sentosa is organising free boat rides to Lazarus Island.
Free boat rides from Sentosa Cove till 1st September 2024

Normally, you’d be able to catch a ferry from Marina South Pier to Lazarus Island and these are operating as usual. However, if you want to save on the ferry tickets, there are complimentary boat rides between Sentosa Jetty at Cove and Seringat Jetty for a limited time.
You’ll be able to catch these free boat rides on 24th and 25th August as well as the weekend of 31st August and 1st September. Boats will depart from 9am-11am every 20 minutes and from 2pm-6pm every 40 minutes, so time your excursion accordingly.
At the same time, SOL by BDC, the convenience store on the island, will be having a pop-up cafe serving BBQ delights. Don’t worry, you won’t go hungry on the island as the menu features crowd-pleasers such as Wagyu Beef Meatball Pasta, Bangers & Mash, Chicken Satay, and Truffle Fries.
What can you do on Lazarus Island?
There are plenty of activities and attractions on Lazarus Island but for water activities, simply head straight to the Lazarus Sea Sports Centre. They’ve got stand-up paddle boards, waterbikes, and kayaks for rental.
For the next few weekends, explore the island on land and water with an exploration package ($32/pax) that includes 4 hours of bike rental as well as an hour of kayaking. Apart from the bicycles, you can opt for kick scooters too, and all of these modes of transport bring you all the way to St John’s Island nearby.
To delve further into the biodiversity of the Southern Islands, choose to participate in a 3-hour guided tour ($59/pax) on 25th August and 1st September 2024. Your Sunday with nature will be settled with a kayak session paddling around Eagle Bay Beach and a walk to find offshore gems such as corals, reef fish, and even sea turtles.
Of course, you can also just bring your swimsuits and floats and have your own fun in the sun. Lazarus Island is pet-friendly too, so feel free to invite your furry friends to the beach party.
And if going into the water is not on the cards, a seaside picnic on the sand or grass is a fun idea too.
