7 Night Activities At Marina Bay Area You Can’t Find Elsewhere

Things to do in Marina Bay at night

Bright lights from nearby skyscrapers, excited chattering as the CBD crowd and tourists alike pad through, and the wafting aroma of food – as local as satay and as posh as oysters. Congrats, you’ve found yourself in the Marina Bay area. Would it be too much of a stretch to call it the NYC of Asia?

With Marina Bay Sands smack-bang in the middle, the area certainly has a galore of celebrity restaurants, broadway musicals, and art & science exhibitions. And if anything, the energy gets more riled up once nightfall swings by. Here are 7 night activities to try around Marina Bay once the twilight hour gets started:

1. Fly an LED kite at Marina Barrage

Here’s Marina Barrage, a green haven in the midst of Marina Bay’s architectural beauts. Many come here for wedding shoots and the occasional midday picnic/kite flying, but be warned – day activities are usually filled with slight regret and plenty of sweat. Don’t underestimate our sweltering heat, instead, head down during a breezy night to get your LED kite flying in the air.

2. Take in unique exhibitions with ArtScience Late’s 1-for-1 entry

There’s no need to jostle through the crowd at ArtScience Museum on weekends, here’s a trick to become a savvy museum-goer: they open till 10PM every third Thursday of the month. There’s even 1-for-1 entry for those interested in making their rounds at exhibitions like Wind Walkers: Theo Jansen’s Strandbeests or Marvel Studios: Ten Years of Heroes.

And since you’re there, drop by their free performances – they’ve featured everything from poetry readings to live acoustic playings.

When nightfall hits and you need to unwind – what better way than sipping on a cocktail at one of Marina Bay Sands’ many rooftop bars? Enjoy the sweeping views from 57-storeys high at LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, and order up a signature cocktail: you’ve got the likes of Coney Island Express ($25) – rum with coffee, and Penicillin ($25) – Johnnie Walker Black with lemon, honey, and ginger.

Other solid after-work choices are rooftop bars Spago and CÉ LA VI SkyBar, which are also perched high in the sky so you can enjoy panoramic views of the Marina Bay skyline.

With streaming lights and fountain jets, Spectra is a choreographer’s masterpiece. It’s set to rousing music and a perfectly in-sync combination of water lights. You might’ve caught a glimpse while strolling by, but this light and water show at Marina Bay Sands demands your full attention.

It runs for 15 minutes but is divided into 4 acts: the first half has vibrant imagery that represents our society and the other half has a futuristic theme. Spectra plays every night at Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza at 8pm and 9pm, with an additional 10pm show on Fridays and Saturdays.

Address: 10 Bayfront Avenue, Event Plaza, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore 018956
