Garden-themed cafes in Singapore

coverImage adapted from: Picnic

We Singaporeans live and work in a concrete jungle, so it’s always nice to take a break amidst nature once in a while. But the unforgiving weather and jialat humidity can sometimes deter us from heading out, which foils our plans of dining alfresco even under the shade of trees.

But you don’t have to break a sweat to get close to nature at these tranquil garden-themed cafes in Singapore. All of them are comfortably air-conditioned, away from the sun, and decorated full of plants and flowers to help restore your zen in no time.

Walking On Sunshine is a cafe cum beauty salon where you can have a meal, get a haircut, and treat yourself to a manicure all in the same place.

The cafe is decorated with dried flowers and ferns dangling from its ceilings and shelves, which double up as good photo spots. But the most photogenic spot is the vintage car bonnet right at the entrance.

They serve daily breakfast buffets at $15 nett with Korean-Western brunch dishes. If you prefer ordering something ala-carte, check out their signature Double Beef Burger ($18.50), which consists of two thick juicy patties marinated in bulgogi sauce and served with a side of sweet potato fries.

For desserts, their Souffle Pancake ($23), is one that can be shared between two or three kakis.  This treat is topped with cut strawberries and blueberries under a generous serving of sweet cream.

Those living in the North who don’t wish to travel all the way down to town can head to Wildseed Cafe. The cafe shares its space with Poppy Flora Studio, which explains why it’s filled with dried blooms dangling from the ceiling

Everything in the cafe, from their ingredients to the decorations, are locally sourced. Their vegetables, for instance, come the homegrown farm Edible Garden City, while their coffee is provided by local coffee roaster Nomad the Gallant.

There are over 6 PS. Cafe outlets all around Singapore, but the newest one at Raffles City is the only one with an indoor-garden concept. The place looks like a greenhouse with tall floor to ceiling windows and giant plant wall within.

Shoestring Truffle Fries ($15) with parmesan cheese a shot. Do check out their Chicken Parmigiano ($29), a hearty main dish of tender chicken breast, garlic ciabatta croutons, spinach and lots of mozzarella.
