Pantai Cenang
With a long beach that stretches over 2km, Pantai Cenang is one of the most popular areas for first-timers to stay in Langkawi. It’s got many bars and restaurants near the beach for you to enjoy a meal or drink while looking out into the ocean view. You can also try parasailing or join a jet ski tour, as there are plenty of water sports and activities around the area.
Pantai Tengah
Alternatively, if you’re not too keen on crowded places, you might want to check out Pantai Tengah instead. It comes with similar offerings of water activities, clubs, and eateries but serves as a less busy alternative to Pantai Cenang.
Tanjong Rhu

3. Tanjong Rhu Resort

For those who want to escape the crowds, Tanjong Rhu Resort is a luxury resort on the northern tip of Langkawi. It may be a 30-minute drive from the airport, but the hotel can arrange a private limousine to fetch you in style, at an additional cost.
Although the resort is hidden within an enclave on the island, that doesn’t mean you’ll be totally disconnected from civilisation – just rent a Sedan, MPV, or limo from the hotel to drive to attractions around Langkawi.
Tanjong Rhu Resort also organises sunset cruises and mangrove tours, if you want to see the wildlife and flora and fauna of Langkawi with your own eyes. There are even beachfront ATV rides for thrillseekers.

It’s also a pretty affordable option in Pantai Cenang, with rates starting from RM167/night. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from plenty of water activities on the beach like jetskiing and parasailing. At night, nocturnal travellers can knock down a few beers at the many beach bars that make up the Langkawi party scene.

For those who want to be in the middle of the action, check into Arch Studio Cenang. It’s located just a 5-minute walk from Pantai Cenang.

This is where you get to live your Gossip Girl Humphrey family dreams, because the loft-style rooms look like they’re right out of Brooklyn. Prices are pretty affordable, too, starting from RM250/night for a Junior Studio, which comes with a balcony that faces the pool.

Families or bigger groups can book the King Studio Suite (RM350) or Family Studio Suite (RM620). The latter comes with 2 queen-sized beds, a living room with sofa, and an in-room pantry. It’s also located on the ground floor, with direct access to the pool so the kiddos can jump in first thing in the morning.

If proximity to the airport is one of the most important factors when choosing a hotel for you, The Smith House would be your best bet. It’s located just a 4-minute drive from the airport – or 13 minutes, should you choose to walk.
But location is not its only selling point. It’s an Insta-worthy boutique hotel with photogenic spots in every corner, and there’s even a lounge space with an in-house library for days you decide to stay in.

Our favourite feature of the hotel, though, is the rooftop swimming pool with scenic views of Langkawi’s surrounding mountains. We don’t know about you, but it looks like the perfect spot to spend an afternoon; chope one of the loungers, grab a glass of juice, and curl up with a good book.
Rates start from RM190/night for a Standard Twin Room. And hey, you get to save on taxi costs from the airport too, if you’re feeling up for a leisurely stroll.
10. The Danna Langkawi

Berjaya Resort may only be a 20-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport, but it feels like another world altogether.
