Kranji Reservoir Park: Former Battle Site With Tranquil Fishing & Nature Spots Near Sungei Buloh

Kranji Reservoir Park

From indoor gardens to hidden trails, the range of parks and nature spots in Singapore is endless. Like neighbourhoods such as Woodlands and Sengkang, Kranji’s countryside is a haven of parks and unique activities that not many are aware of.

If you’re looking for yet another space to bask in the sun, check out Kranji Reservoir Park, where visitors will be able to explore a former WWII battle site or even enjoy a fruitful day of angling at the designated fishing grounds.

WWII stories never cease to pique our interest, and the Battle of Kranji in 1942 is one that’ll you’ll learn tons about during your visit. In its yesteryears, Kranji Beach was a designated battle site between the Japanese Imperial Guards Division and the Australian 22nd Brigade. The latter also had a special local unit called Dalforce to defend Kranji.

While there aren’t as many artefacts or historical buildings still standing here today, Kranji Reservoir Park has an information plaque explaining the park’s role during the Kranji Beach Battle, also paying tribute to the soldiers that risked their lives in the war.
