Things to do in Komo Shoppes
It’s no secret that the region of Changi is a hit with the Easties. Honestly, we can’t blame them; the allure of Changi Village Hawker Centre’s fare is irresistible, and you get to walk off your extra calories with strolls in the serene Changi Beach Park. There’re even additions like The Bus Collective and Cosford Container Park to keep repeat visitors on their toes.
To keep this streak of refreshed openings ongoing, Komo Shoppes is a mall that has, well, recently opened shop and will be injecting some much-needed convenience into its vicinity. Here’s what you can expect from this new mall in the far East.
New mall in Upper Changi with convenient offerings
We won’t beat around the bush here; Upper Changi’s kinda ulu. However, with the opening of Komo Shoppes, those residing nearby and visitors to the area won’t have to look too hard for the familiar, air-conditioned breeze of a heartland mall. They can look forward to this new mall being their go-to for shopping and dining.
Situated right at the foot of Parc Komo condominium, the 2-storey mall might be petite, but it houses all you’d ever need for a quick pick-me-up throughout your day. As for getting here via public transport, the mall is about 2km from Tampines East MRT station, so we’d recommend boarding a bus instead and alighting at the stop immediately after Esso petrol station.
Food options with cuisine from various cultures
As far as food options go, at Komo Shoppes there are a couple of restaurants to choose from. Located at #01-10, M@K@N whips up dishes that are a mash between Indian and Indonesian cuisine. You’ll want to dig into their Nasi Ayam Penyet, which promises a bed of fragrant rice best paired with their sambal chilli, along with a hearty cut of chicken.
Their neighbours, Ding Heng Restaurant (#01-11) are also worth a visit, when you’re in the mood for Chinese delights.
The restaurant is well-known amongst foodies in the East, especially for bestsellers which include Sweet & Sour Pork Rice ($7.50), Hokkien Mee ($6.50) and Prawn Paste Chicken ($15). For early risers looking for a morning bite, their Bak Chor Mee ($6.50) is a good breakfast option too.
Cafes & a bar to catch a breather at
The mall also has a couple of cafes and even a bar to serve as pit stops if your day is getting too hectic for your liking. Munch into your obligatory kaya toast (from $2.30) breakfast at good ol’ Toast Box (#01-09), or refuel on caffeine with cold brew coffees (from $9.10) at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (#01-08).
Most Easties will be familiar with george’s and now there’s a new outlet to check out.
There’s no need to rack your brain for which bar to hit for Happy Hour, just head right to george’s @ Oasis (#01-12). This cosy enclave is the place to knock back a couple of beers (from $8), but if you need something stronger, then go for some of their liquor. Cocktails and shots of whiskey start from $9.60 at Happy Hour, so just chug away.
There’s even a pool table at the back of the bar, for when you’re still able to stand on your own 2 feet, that is.
Stock up on essentials at FairPrice Finest
You’ll be able to do your grocery shopping right here at Komo Shoppes’ trusty supermarket, FairPrice Finest (#01-01 to #01-07).
Just waltz right in and you’ll be greeted with rows and rows of produce like fruits and vegetables. However, carnivores can make a beeline for the in-house deli; there’s a wide selection of cold cuts and cheese, perfect for plating a sumptuous charcuterie board.
If the pantry situation in the office is looking a little dire, then load up on your favourites at the snacks aisle for those midday breaks. There’s also a sushi section for those wanting to indulge in a plethora of Japanese-inspired bites which include creamy strips of fresh salmon, as well as Ikura-laden options.
Other than that, the FairPrice Finest here is comparable to what you’d find at outlets over at the bigger malls, so its selection of household essentials is nothing to be scoffed at. Soft drinks, personal care products, canned food, and even wine can all be found here, feel free to do your weekend grocery runs here too.
24-hour gym & enrichment centres for kids
Although the gym might be unstaffed at times, members are free to enter any time of the day.
If you’re looking to clock in your workouts, you can do so at the Anytime Fitness gym (#02-12 to #02-14) located on the second floor. The gym’s open 24/7, and comes equipped with free weights, squat racks, treadmills, and dumbbells; basically everything you need to sculpt your dream body.
For some extra motivation, chat up the few trainers roaming the gym; they’ll be more than happy to give you a spot, or to give you tips on how to smash your PRs.
Right next door, PlayFACTO School (#02-10 to #02-11) is a great option to drop the kids off at after school. While they’re primarily a student care centre, they’ve got extensive school holiday programmes that might pique your child’s interest, such as a Minecraft-powered coding workshop.
Come June 2024, you can leave your little ones in the capable hands of Rain Tree Montessori Schoolhouse (#02-01 to #02-06). They’ll take kids from as young as 18 months to 6 years of age under their wing, imparting to them essential skills such as reading, creative writing, and maths. They’ll also get to refine their social skills by mingling with fellow tots.
For $150/term, students at Presto Studios are granted unlimited access to a spacious studio to practise for that big performance.
For those with an aspiring Mozart in the family, head right to Presto Studios (#02-07). They’re a music school which provides beginner-friendly lessons to pick up a couple of instruments. These include classes for instruments such as the piano, guitar, and ukulele.
They’ve even got vocal classes for adults, in case you’re wanting to up your game at the various Karaoke studios in Singapore.

The mall is still relatively new, so do expect new tenants to ease their way into the mix of things in the coming months. This includes Ooh La La! Nails & Lashes Bar, which is a new beauty joint that has just opened up, so the missus can definitely look forward to getting all prettied up.
One thing’s for certain; the residents of Parc Komo will absolutely love the convenience Komo Shoppes has brought to their literal doorsteps. However, you’re also free to swing by to have a gander yourself should you ever find yourself wandering the streets of Upper Changi.
