Design Your Own Barbie With A 60M Buffet Of Materials, For SG’s Longest Barbie Runway

Wings of Art 2025 has a 60m-long Barbie runway

We’re skipping the humdrum of the June holidays around here and heading straight to its tail end, especially if there are any Barbie fans around. Wings of Art 2025 is coming to Marina Square from 24th June to 1st July, and you’ll want to sign up stat for one of its Winged Barbie crafting sessions – there are only limited slots up for grabs.

What is Wings of Art 2025?

Before we get to the fun stuff – Wings of Art 2025 is a national creative initiative with impact, specially organised in line with the nation’s SG60 celebrations. The proceeds will go to supporting underprivileged children through the Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts Programme.

Organised by Peace of Art, a Singapore-based social movement that believes in uplifting communities and inspiring change through art, they hope to raise $100,000 that will go towards supporting children from low-income families who live in public rental flats through academic help, enrichment activities, mentorship, and healthy meals.

Bookings are already open for the Winged Barbie crafting sessions, which run from 25th June to 1st July at the Marina Square Atrium. Each booking comes with 1 limited-edition, numbered Barbie doll, whose outfit you can design with sustainable materials that you can pick from a staggering 60m-long runway buffet of options.

There are only 1,000 dolls up for adoption, and you’ll be given a set of wings to add to your very own Barbie. Bring your personalised doll home, or donate it to one of the children who will benefit from the initiative.

Depending on how you look at it, the workshop is technically free since the whole $60 (weekday) or $75 (weekend) early bird fee goes directly to the Singapore Red Cross Society as donations.

If you prefer, opt for a girls’ day out with the Wings of Art Signature Workshop, priced at $900 for a group of 5 participants. In this private session, you’ll be guided on your Barbie designing journey by an artist while you enjoy a selection of refreshments. Plus, you’ll be seated away from the crowd, and you get personalised sessions at the photobooth.

P.S.: you can enjoy a 250% tax deduction on the difference between your donation and the $5 retail value of the Barbie doll too.

While you’re at the workshop, or even if you aren’t designing your own Barbie, have a marvel at the collection of 1,060 winged dolls that will be on display on the Barbie runway.

At 60m long, this Barbie runway is set to be recorded as the longest of its kind in Singapore. You’ll never have seen any of the Barbie models on the shelves before, either, because every one of the 1,060 dolls will have been handcrafted by artists, children, and members of the public.

Of these thousand-plus dolls, 60 have been designed by artists including actress Jaylee Woo, local chocolatier Janice Wong, fashion designer Frederick Lee, and thespian Selena Tan – these ones in particular could be yours if you bid for them and win.

Help to create Singapore’s largest winged public art sculpture

Leave your mark on Wings of Art 2025 in yet another record-setting structure: a 3m x 3m winged public art sculpture of recycled glass and crystal that visitors will get a chance to add to.
