The Deluxe Rooms start from RM513/night (~S$165.44) and include a king-sized bed with enough space for a rollaway bed, making them suitable for families of 3. For those willing to splurge, rooms with city skyline views and a daily breakfast buffet are available from RM727/night, which is about S$234.59—a little less than what most new hotels in Singapore would cost.

You can also take a short 10-minute drive to Danga Bay for a peaceful stroll along the beach to watch the sunset. Meanwhile, those who want to do some light shopping can head over to SKS City Mall, directly connected to the hotel.

If your idea of a JB trip is waking up to city views, grabbing kopi downstairs, and spending the afternoon hopping between malls, Novotel Johor Bahru City Centre might just be your new go-to base.
Opened in December 2025, this spanking-new 34-storey hotel in JB sits right in the thick of things, with KSL City Mall literally a 4-minute walk away and JB City Square just a short drive down the road. Room rates start from around RM330/night (~S$106), which is decent value for such a central location.

The 304 rooms all come with floor-to-ceiling windows, smart TVs, and a nice eco-conscious touch: every room has a filtered water tap, so you can stay hydrated without burning through plastic bottles. If you’re travelling with the family, the hotel offers connecting room configurations, which makes wrangling everyone at bedtime a whole lot easier.

For a solid and unpretentious stay in JB, look no further than the Four Points by Sheraton Johor Bahru. The newest hotel in the area, not to be confused with the Sheraton Johor Bahru, recently opened in early 2026 following the full refurbishment and rebranding of the former AmanSari Residence Resort.
While the location is a little far from the main hotspots – the hotel is situated in the Masai enclave – it means you’ll have a quieter stay away from the throngs of Singaporeans visiting JB.
Families can book the massive 3-bedroom Family Duplex Apartment; it has a separate living room, nearly 1,400sqft of space, and can fit up to 6 guests, a.k.a your entire kampong.

What was formerly known as The Sirēya, and before that, the One&Only Desaru Coast, has officially rebranded as Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast as of January 2026. The all-suite property sits within 128 acres of rainforest along a 1.5km private beach overlooking the South China Sea, and all 44 suites and villas come with private plunge pools, courtyards, and verandas.

If a standard hotel room just doesn’t cut it for you anymore, gird your loins. With a soft launch slated for June 2026, 1975 Avenue & Hotel is upping the JB staycation game by letting you sleep inside a retired Boeing 747 plane.
Each of the 18 suites across 2 jets has been themed after a different country, including Japan, Egypt, and Mexico. There’s also a separate hotel block with 20 ordinary rooms for a more modest stay. The hotel will feature a lagoon pool, man-made beach, gym, and a spa, which is a lot more amenities than a first-class flight.

6. JW Marriott Hotel Johor Bahru

Marriott loyalists stay winning with the JW Marriott Hotel Johor Bahru opening its doors on 1st December 2026. The 410-key property is taking over the former Thistle Johor Bahru Hotel, which is about a 10-minute drive away from the JB CIQ.
Guests of this upcoming 5-star luxury hotel can also expect a new executive lounge, tennis court, 3 pickleball courts, a resort-style outdoor pool, gym, spa, and a kids’ club. This will most likely be one of the more expensive staycation spots in JB, so best to start saving your credit card points to redeem a free stay.
