Kueh & Kusu by Sindo Ferry
As residents of our little red dot, we really don’t need much. Give us some adventure and food and we’re as Happy as Pharrell Williams. For all the serial island hoppers and afternoon tea fans out there, look no further than the floating afternoon tea experience of Kueh & Kusu for your next weekend getaway.
Afternoon tea on a ferry
With lagoons, untouched beaches and even a temple, Kusu Island provides plenty for a quick escapade. While visitors would typically have to bring their own food to the island, you can now opt for the alternative of enjoying an afternoon tea on the ferry ride there – three tiers and all.

Let loose your inner tai tai and enjoy an array of colourful bites starting with the savouries of assorted finger sandwiches and baked chicken pie. Move on to blueberry cheese tarts, chocolate eclairs, coffee swiss rolls and kueh dadar after, before washing everything down with free-flow earl grey tea.

It’s not your usual Kusu island shuttle service: Sindo Ferry, as you may recall, was the MVP with comfy seats that brought us to and from Batam and Bintan before the descent of the pandemic.
With travel out of the picture, they’re now providing curated Southern Island experiences such as Kueh & Kusu – a refreshing change, perfect for those looking to escape the mainland.

Available only on weekends, the experience takes you on a 2.5 hour-long journey starting with departure from Harbourfront Ferry Terminal at 2PM. You’ll have 45 minutes of dining and sightseeing as the ferry cruises past the Marina coastline, before docking to explore Kusu Island for roughly an hour. Visitors will be brought back to Harbourfront before dinner time.

Explore Kusu Island with a high-tea
While we mourn the loss of weekend getaways to Batam and Bintan, let’s not forget that we have plenty of local islands to explore as well. Prices for Kueh & Kusu begin from $60/person for both adults and children and are SingapoRediscovers Voucher (SRV) applicable when you book via Klook.
