But, if you’re looking for more things to do at this Swedish mainstay, then look no further than the newly revamped IKEA Alexandra.

For starters, IKEA Alexandra has been a stalwart in the Bukit Merah and Queenstown neighbourhood, having opened its doors since 1995. The recent renovation is the store’s third and took them a long 3 years to complete, but as of last week, IKEA Alexandra finally opened its refurbished doors to customers.

Should you be driving in yourself, you’ll notice the expanded carpark, equipped with more parking lots for families, electric vehicles, and people with disabilities. Once you’ve made your way inside, peep the swanky new showrooms, all decked with IKEA’s emblematic, minimalist furniture to give your living space a touch of Scandinavian inspiration.

Of course, we can’t fault you if you’ve made your way down to IKEA Alexandra solely for its grub. Coincidentally, 23rd August 2024 happens to be International Meatball Day, and as such IKEA has a slew of dining deals infused with their world-renowned meatballs.

Head down to any of IKEA’s Swedish Restaurant from 19th-25th August 2024 to enjoy delicacies such as a 12-piece Swedish meatball platter with mushroom soup for $11.50. Don’t worry, old fan favourites like their $1 hotdogs and $0.50 soft serve soya ice cream are still available right here.

You’ve got to present your IKEA Family membership to enjoy these deals, which you can sign up for free on the IKEA website. P.S. you can also redeem 2 free cups of either coffee or tea at their restaurant with this membership, along with other discounts on furniture.

You might also catch a whiff of fresh bakes wafting in the air. That’s right, IKEA’s on-site bakery is no longer exclusive to their Tampines branch, as there’s one in IKEA Alexandra too. Located in its Swedish Food Market, munch on assorted donuts (from $2/piece), or dabao mini butter croissants ($1) and various muffins (from $2.20) for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Don’t forget to swing by the Snap and print kiosk within the store. It’s essentially a photo booth which allows you to take pictures and even decorate your snaps with frames and cutesy stickers, all for the low, low cost of $0.50. It’s even conveniently located at the photo frames section of the store, if you’d like to purchase one for your mementos ASAP.

The renovated IKEA Alexandra is also fitted with features to help people with disabilities have a better shopping experience. Some of these thoughtful adjustments include wider aisles and gentler slopes to facilitate wheelchair users.

The first 100 customers to visit IKEA Alexandra during their housewarming party also get to snag a goodie bag filled with Swedish goodies from IKEA worth $30. Those doing furniture shopping might be interested in a couple of the store’s deals too; these include slashed prices for LACK side tables ($9.90, U.P. $12.90) and PÖANG low-back armchairs ($79, U.P. $159).

It wouldn’t be a party without good food, so IKEA Alexandra’s little shindig is just stocked with bites you can dig into on your visit. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, make a stop at the complimentary Swedish candy bar on level 2 for some exotic treats, or indulge in free popcorn and candy floss on level 1, near the store’s exit.
