There are plenty of places for go-karting in JB just across the Causeway, so strap on your seatbelts and race to your heart’s content without worrying about the traffic lights or having a driver’s license.

Permas Go-Kart Club at Plentong Karting Circuit boasts one of the cheapest rates in terms of price to track length ratio. The location is quite ulu, but if you choose to head a little further out of the way, you’ll be able to enjoy the wide open space it offers while you ride the 1.4km track.
And while the karts are on the older side, they are well maintained and allegedly reach up to 160km/h, so don’t worry about not getting your money’s worth in speed. Pro riders can bring their own kart for a starting fee of RM150 (~S$45.40) for a full day of racing.
Price: From RM47 (~S$14.18) per 10-minute session
2. RUD Karting Medini
Competitive outdoor racing with KTV
RUD Karting Medini is the brand’s flagship circuit among 7 other circuits across Malaysia. The track runs 774m long with 16 corners, making it one of the longest in the region. You can pick from a range of karts with custom specifications – for example, their Super Twin kart (RM150, ~S$45.47) allows 2 riders to sit side-by-side together on the same kart. Only 1 driver gets to control the steering wheel – ideal for those who don’t feel comfortable going alone.

Plus, if racing isn’t up your alley, The Rud Cafe is an in-house dining venue for you to relax at and grab a bite in an alfresco setting. The track and its cafe are open until the wee hours of 2am, which means it’s possible to rock up in the evening to avoid the blazing heat of the afternoon sun, and still have loads to do.
Price: From RM55 (~S$16.60) per 10-minute session
3. Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park
Complete your day at the theme park with go-karting
Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park has its own go-karting circuit, Drift in Austin, in the Sports & Leisure Park, which offers various activities like high-element obstacle courses and water slides at its different zones.
During your full day of fun at the park, head down to its mini go-kart circuit track where you’ll get to race with friends to see who will be crowned the speed champion. It’s located in the same area as the high element courses, so if heights aren’t your thing, get your blood pumping on a go-kart instead.
Price: From RM28 (~S$8.45) per 10-minute session
4. KF Kiddy Circuit @ Southkey Mid Valley
Kid-friendly circuit for the little ones

KF Kiddy Circuit @ Southkey Mid Valley might be a familiar name to some, as Singapore has our very own KF1 Karting Circuit back home. There’s a difference though – while the KF1 in Singapore is outdoors and catered to adults, KF Kiddy Circuit is indoors and was built specifically for all ages. It has a 200m racetrack with unique themes for the little racers out there.
The track isn’t just all flash – parents don’t have to worry, as the course is designed with safety in mind. The go-karts have a maximum speed of 8km/h and are equipped with seatbelts to secure the driver in place. On top of that, parents can tag along with their child in the same kart, so even the youngest of kids can enjoy the experience.
KF Kiddy Circuit Toppen Ikea is the other alternative JB outlet located in Toppen Shopping Centre. Pick between the 2 depending on where your family is heading for the day.
Price: From RM35 (~S$10.56) per 8-minute session

We have another theme park on this list, but X Park Sunway Iskandar stands out as it’s dedicated to adventure sports, and has its very own park-exclusive go-karting circuit. With archery, ATV, and paintball facilities, you won’t find yourself bored with nothing to do.
While your regular singular Fast Karts will cost RM70 (~S$21.18) for a 10-minute session, you can also opt to ride as a pair on a Double Kart at the same price. Don’t worry – the kids will also be able to get their own Kiddie Kart (RM35/~S$10.59) for a smaller, safer ride. And, if you’ve come in a big group, ask the friendly staff to help organise a mini race amongst your party.

This venue is open until midnight and has 2 neon-lit sectors, divided into Level G and Level 1, for both adults and kids to try. The former is ideal for novices behind the wheel, while the latter comes with its share of ramps and slopes that are perfect for the more experienced. Whether you’re new at this or a pro, you’ll find the ride equally satisfying.

Neon-lit circuit with special karts for drifting

PLSC Entertainment Johor, in Aeon Mall Bandar Dato Onn, has an indoor drift go-karting circuit called PLSC Drift. Be prepared – the grungy garage-like vibes and tyre stacks acting as decoration will make you feel like you’re actually in the Tokyo Drift movie once you step in.
Cruise around the neon-lit racetrack as you slide in and out of turns on the special drift-karts. These karts are fitted with special rear wheels designed to let you slide around curves and corners at top speed. Note that the sessions here are on the shorter side, so it’s perfect for a quick ride in between mall activities like dining and shopping.
