Gardens by the Bay Hydrangea Holidays
You won’t need a passport to travel the world thanks to Gardens by the Bay (GBTB), which has transported us to countries like Japan, Italy and Mongolia with its whimsical floral exhibits. Now, soak in the sights and scents of the Netherlands at Hydrangea Holidays, which brings the Dutch countryside to our little red dot.
From adorable teddy sculptures to replicas of iconic landmarks, here’s what you can expect to see at the exhibit, running from now till 14th August 2022.

Hydrangea Holidays is located within the Flower Dome and will whisk you away to a mini Holland, with replicas of landmarks like windmills, scenic canals, and even Amsterdam’s ubiquitous townhouses.

Look out for the adorable teddy mascots all around the exhibits, who may even teach you a thing or two about the country’s culture. Did you know that Gouda was named after a Dutch town? Well, now you do.

You’ll also be able to spot a replica of West Shouwen, one of the Netherlands’ biggest lighthouses. Besides having a jolly ol’ time snapping fun pics for IG, travel buffs can add these locations to their bucket lists for a future trip abroad.
Over 20 hydrangea varieties & art gallery

Roses are red, violets are blue, hydrangeas are white…and blue, pink and purple. Expect to feast your eyes on over 20 varieties of hydrangeas while you’re here. Blushing brides-to-be can get some wedding inspo during their visit as well – these flowers make for pretty good bouquets and decor!
Interesting blooms include the Hydrangea paniculata, which colours change from white to pink. There’s also the Hydrangea macrophylla, which ranges from dark blue or purple to light pink depending on the soil’s pH level.

Hydrangeas have deep symbolism behind their colours too. Romantic pink hydrangeas are perfect to send to boo, purple petals signify elegance and understanding, while blue ones can mean either forgiveness or regret.

GBTB has also come together with TOUCH Community Services to put together an art gallery inspired by the gardens, featuring over 50 artworks by special needs artists. Visitors can purchase them via a silent auction – just place your bids by scanning the accompanying QR code next to each piece.
The auction will end on 14th August 2022, with all proceeds going towards the artists and TOUCH.

A trip to Gardens by the Bay never fails, and this time, you can look forward to “visiting” yet another country – even if just for a little while. Tickets to the exhibit are priced at $12, so be sure to get your hands on ‘em for an affordable activity to look forward to over the weekend.
