20 Best Daiso Products To Buy In Japan At Just $1, Including Items You Can’t Find In SG

Best Daiso Japan products in Japan

You love Japan, I love Japan, we all love Japan. We love the food, the scenery, the culture and if you’re anything like 99.9% of Singaporeans, you’d love the shopping.

One visit to Daiso Japan was all it took for me to mark it as a must-visit for all future trips. Everything here is cheaper than it is in Daiso Singapore – half the price in fact! All items here are ¥100, or ¥110 after tax, unless otherwise labelled. Ladies and gents, that’s converted to a sweet S$0.93.

The current exchange rate is S$1 = ¥121 as of 23rd December 2025.

One dollar phone cases in this economy? Even Taobao might not have deals as good as this.

9. Makeup brush

daiso japan - makeup brush

Daiso Japan makeup brushes definitely aren’t going to be in the same paying field as market titans like IT cosmetics and Real Techniques but they are soft, don’t shed, and wash pretty well. If you forgot your makeup brushes at home, these brushes have a decent rep.

Most of us go through a last minute souvenir shopping panic. And to that, Daiso Japan says “calm down” with their cute onigiri bath bombs for you to hand out to your friends and collagues. These have a little toy inside that will be unveiled once you toss it into a tub. As far as we know, the onigiri bath bomb isn’t sold in Singapore!

11. Eyebrow pencils

daiso japan - eyebrow pencil

As someone who has used Daiso’s eyebrow pencils for years, they have never caused pimples and get the job done. While they don’t have fancy features like being smudgeproof and aren’t super highly pigmented, they’re simple to use and cost just a dollar or two depending on which type you pick.

Price in Daiso Japan: ¥110 (~S$0.93)
Price in Singapore: ~S$2.18

12. Makeup brush detergent

You’ve probably heard of Daiso’s makeup brush detergent. When they first got popular many years back, these puppies were often swiped off the shelves and you’d have to go store to store to find stock.

Home & kitchen products

While home and kitchen products are usually pretty big, ergo, difficult to carry back to Singapore, these ones in Daiso that we found are tiny but mighty.

13. Electric whisk

daiso japan - matcha whisk

Picture this: you’re searching for matcha powders in Japan, desperately hunting down the highly-coveted Marukyu Koyamaen and Hoshino Seichaen. But that’s not the only thing you should be looking for.

Here’s a little PSA. Daiso’s handheld whisks are sold as “milk frothers” but they double up as a nifty matcha whisk as well. The next budget alternative I’ve found is the $1.50 one in IKEA Singapore.

Price in Daiso Japan: ¥110 (~S$0.93)
Price in Singapore: ~S$2.18 – currently sold out.

14. Disney ice & chocolate mold

Food & drinks

Daiso snacks certainly aren’t limited to that one delicious Caramel Corn puff that everyone knows and loves. Though, I wouldn’t recommend buying too many snacks here, since Japan is all about food and there are many other confectioneries, restaurants, and cafes to save that stomach space for.

19. Soyjoy

daiso japan - soyjoy vegan

Fun fact: Soyjoy is from Japan. Here, they have flavours, such as plant-based banana, that are harder to find in Singapore.

20. Kirin Salted Lychee

daiso japan - salted lychee

Kirin’s Salted Lychee is a personal favourite and I’ll grab it every single time I pass by Daiso in Japan. It’s light, slightly sweet and ever so slightly salty, and brings to mind Pink Dolphin’s drink from our childhood. You can find this in Singapore as well as in Don Don Donki; just at a higher price.

Price in Daiso Japan: ¥110 (~S$0.93)
Price in Singapore: Not available in Daiso Singapore.

Why is Daiso Japan so cheap?

Daiso Japan was founded in 1977 as a ¥100 store and hasn’t increased its prices since. They keep their prices affordable by doing bulk purchases, selling each item at low unit profit, and earning from the high volume of sales instead.

Most Daiso products are also made directly with factories and designed in-house to cut middleman costs. To top it all off, they don’t spend a lot on marketing because – since when have you ever seen a Daiso TV advert?

What is the biggest Daiso Store in Japan?

To no one’s surprise, the biggest Daiso store in the world lies in Japan. Specifically, it’s in Chiba, near Tokyo. The Daiso Giga Funabashi Store is a gargantuan 7-storey building with everything you can possibly imagine under one roof.

That being said, you don’t really need to travel out of your way to visit this specific outlet as there are many more massive Daiso stores within the heart of Tokyo, including its Ikebukuro flagship, located right at Ikebukuro station.

Don’t sleep on Daiso Japan during your next trip

When travelling overseas, we often overlook brands that are also widely available in our home country but Daiso Japan is definitely worth a stop or two (or three).

While almost all products here are ¥100, there are a handful of higher-value items going at ¥300 and ¥500 so be sure you didn’t accidentally pick those up before you check out! These are differentiated with a price printed on the packaging of the product. If there are no prices marked, you can assume the item costs ¥100.
