Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore

We did the math and counted up all the public holidays in 2023. There are 8 long weekends ahead to look forward to. Now, you could make plans to conquer all 50 things to do in Bangkok or cross off a bucket list item like snorkelling near Singapore.

But if you’re in need of a more laid-back activity, we’ve got just the tried and tested thing – a staycay at a boutique hotel. Citadines Connect City Centre is a newly-launched one located along the shopping belt of Orchard. Plus, there’s 40% off on stays from now till 30th November 2022. We’ve got the details you need before your check-in:

Hotel at a historical address

182 Clemenceau Avenue might ring a bell with your folks and grandparents. It’s the site of the former Rediffusion building, when cable radio subscriptions were still a thing from the 1940s to its closure in 2012. Prior to that, the address was home to a railway station that operated for 30 years from 1902-1932.

We promise we have a point to make with this history lesson: The architecture of Citadines Connect City Centre has been inspired by these historical facts.

The hotel has been modelled to feel like an old railway station. Bronze-gilded arches found throughout the establishment are reminiscent of train tunnels, as if you’re waiting for a train to arrive in an underground station.

Up in the rooms, wardrobe doors have been covered in woven rattan to look like speakers on vintage radios. Even the light switches that toggle up and down are similar to ones found on radios of the past.

Family-friendly rooms & lofts

Parents, we know the mum and dad guilt kicks in when you leave the kiddos behind to sneak off for a romantic night alone. Fret not, juniors can join you on your next staycay at Citadines Connect City Centre.

The family room and suite have both been designed for little ones in mind. Think bunk beds with an attached slide for siblings to climb all over and a play corner with hopscotch mat and teepee to crawl into. Tiny reading chairs are available too, so you can still read them their bedtime stories before shut eye.

Another room families might want to book are the lofts. It’s not often that you’ll find a 2-storey room for a staycation, but there are 3 available to book here. You get the luxury of sprawling around the living room downstairs, keeping the bed area upstairs neat and tidy till you’re ready to hit the sack.

We’re left with just a few months left until 2023. That means just under 100 days to use up any of the annual leaves you can’t carry forward to the next year. If you’re not up to booking an air ticket out of here, the least you could do is treat yourself to a weekend getaway in your own backyard.
