Dad comforts daughter amid heavy rain with a hug
Yesterday afternoon, the city of Hanoi saw a heavy downpour that came with lightning and thunder. Many areas across the city were flooded, and most motorbike riders had to take temporary shelter under the bridges.
Social media has been filled with photos of Hanoi yesterday, showing soaking wet people trembling in the cold. However, there was one story involving a dad embracing his young daughter that warmed the cockles of everyone’s hearts.

In a touching post on a Facebook group Cháo Hành Miễn Phí, Hanoi resident Liên Phương Phạm shared a post about a father’s display of love for his daughter.
According to the OP, the downpours happened too suddenly and many people had to take shelter under a flyover on Nguyen Trai Street.

Among those waiting for the rain to abate were a young couple and their daughter. While the mother was guarding their motorbike, the raincoat-clad father was seen holding his daughter close to his chest.
Scared of the thunderstorm, the little girl couldn’t stop crying. Amid the roaring thunder, the father kept consoling his daughter, “I’m here. I’ll protect you.”

Before long, the girl stayed calm and started playing around with her dad.
After waiting for a while, the father called a cab for his wife and his daughter for them to go home first.
Netizens are touched by the story
Since the post went live, it has garnered 13,000 likes at the time of writing, with most comments praising the father’s affection for his daughter.

Netizen Phương Hoa shared a similar experience, “Whenever the thunder roars, my husband will rush to embrace my daughter lest she is startled and scared. That’s when I’m reassured that I married the right one.”
We stan affectionate dads
Most Asian dads don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. Perhaps that’s why it’s rare to spot dads who display their affection in public places.
Nonetheless, no parent can remain calm upon seeing a fearful child.
We think it’s great that this particular dad gave it his all to comfort his baby girl in her time of need.
One day the little girl will outgrow her father’s lap, but she’ll certainly never outgrow his heart.
