Senior citizen discounts in Singapore

Most of us don’t look forward to growing old, but it comes with its fair share of perks. For instance, seniors in Singapore can enjoy a range of discounts and privileges that make everything from dining out to shopping a little easier on the wallet.

Here are some senior citizen discounts and programmes worth sharing with your parents or grandparents.

Who is considered a senior citizen in Singapore?

The baseline age for being considered a senior citizen in Singapore is 60, but there isn’t one fixed age that applies to every senior discount or programme. Some places and schemes have a lower age requirement, with certain senior perks available from as early as 50 or 55.

We recommend checking the individual programme’s eligibility criteria before heading down.

1. PAssion Silver Concession Card

Good news for seniors aged 60 and above who are constantly travelling by public transport between grandkids’ houses, kopi meetups, and appointments: public transport can be a little more affordable with the PAssion Silver Concession Card.

Senior citizen fares for feeder bus rides start from $0.69, while fares for express bus services start from $1.34. For MRT and LRT rides, fares start from $0.19 before 7.45am on weekdays.

What’s more, transport fares for regular bus and MRT services are capped at $1.07 once journeys exceed 7.2km, so you’ll get a bigger discount on longer journeys too. Frequent commuters can also opt for the $55 Hybrid Monthly Concession Pass, which offers unlimited rides on basic bus services and trains for the month.

Take note that Singapore citizens aged 60 and above can use the PAssion Silver Concession Card, while eligible PRs can use the Senior Citizen Concession Card.

2. PastaMania

30% off pasta & pizzas on Mondays

Pasta and pizza-loving seniors will want to take note of this one. PastaMania Singapore is offering 30% off à la carte items each Monday for seniors aged 60 and above, extending to both dine-ins and takeaways until 31st December 2026.

To redeem this discount, the senior has to be present and flash their ID card upon payment at the counter. However, the promotion is unavailable at PastaMania Pronto outlets at Pioneer Mall, Toa Payoh, and Changi Airport Terminal 2, so avoid these outlets if you’re looking to make use of the discount. 

3. Kopitiam

10% off meals for Pioneer & Merdeka Generation cardholders

At participating Kopitiam outlets that accept payment via the FairPrice Group app (App Store | Google Play), Pioneer Generation, Merdeka Generation, and ComCare cardholders can enjoy 10% off regular-priced items by flashing their physical card.

BTW, diners who aren’t part of the senior citizen age group can still get the same discount by paying via the FairPrice Group app at participating outlets. So seniors who tend to forget their card at home can still enjoy the discount, as long as they pay via the app.

It’s a handy perk for seniors who regularly meet their friends to chat over a meal or a cup of kopi, since even small savings can add up over multiple visits.

4. Mandai Wildlife Reserve

$25 tickets to major wildlife parks

Mandai Wildlife Reserve also has its own set of discounts for seniors who want to bring their grandkids to see pandas at River Wonders, or spend the day birdwatching at Bird Paradise without paying the regular adult fare.

Singapore citizens aged 60 and above can get tickets to Singapore Zoo, Bird Paradise, River Wonders, and Night Safari for just $25 each, down from their usual adult resident WildPass rates of $35-$52 depending on the park and day of visit.

Those with extra love for animals and nature can also opt for the $93 Friends of Mandai Senior membership (U.P. $255) for a year of unlimited access to 5 wildlife parks, as well as an $8 F&B voucher. 

5. Gardens by the Bay

With the senior perks from Gardens by the Bay, Singapore citizens aged 60 and above can go for morning walks, take a breather amongst flora and fauna, or spend quality time with their families in nature at discounted rates.

6. Changi Experience Studio

$10 weekday tickets for seniors

Because family bonding is important, here’s another place you can bring your grandparents where they can enjoy a discount too.

Changi Experience Studio is a much more interactive experience than simply admiring flowers and animals – it’s an attraction offering projection experiences, high-tech games, and immersive shows, where seniors and their companions can have active fun while learning more about aviation and the workings of the airport.

PAssion Silver members can get $10 weekday tickets, down from the usual $14.80 Singapore Resident rate, while PAssion Silver weekend and public holiday tickets are 10% off at $13.32.

7. Singapore Cable Car

Here’s another win for PAssion Silver members – get 30% off a round trip on Singapore Cable Car (U.P. $35 per adult), valid until 31st March 2027.

A slow, scenic cable car ride can pair well with a Sentosa day out with the grandkids, and offer a great bird’s-eye view for seniors to point out familiar landmarks and share stories about how the city has changed over the decades. 

8. Shaw Theatres

From Monday to Friday, seniors aged 55 and above can catch a movie at Shaw Theatres for just $4.50 with a Digital 2D ticket for screenings before 6pm. Those who want a more immersive experience can opt for the Digital 3D ticket for $6.

This is good for seniors who prefer a quieter cinema experience without the evening and weekend crowds. Just remember to bring along a valid photo ID, as the senior rate is only available for walk-in purchases.

9. Golden Village

$5 2D movie tickets

Retirement perk: you can finally catch that weekday movie while everyone else is stuck at work.

For seniors aged 60 and above who want an affordable movie experience, another option to consider is a show at Golden Village. $5 2D movie tickets (U.P. $11.50) and $12 3D movie tickets (U.P. $15) are available – all you have to do is flash your ID card and ensure you’re catching a weekday screening before 6pm, excluding public holidays and their eves.

This promotion is valid till 30th December 2026, so make the most of the promotional period by catching as many new movies as possible.

10. National Silver Academy

Up to 50% off courses

As they say, ageing productively means being open to lifelong learning experiences, even through one’s silver years. Best for bored seniors aged 50 and above who want to pick up a hobby, keep their minds active, or socialise, National Silver Academy (NSA) provides up to 50% course fee subsidy – capped at $500 per course.

The short courses and selected exam-free curricula focus on holistic learning, and range from gardening to mental health awareness to pastry and dessert making, so there’s something for everyone. It’s a good option for seniors who want to make meaningful use of their time, whether that includes dabbling in something they’ve always been curious about or making a few kakis along the way.

Whether it’s catching a movie, spending time with the family, or shaving a few cents off a meal, there are plenty of ways for seniors in Singapore to stretch their dollar. So, don’t leave that Pioneer Generation, Merdeka Generation, or PAssion Silver card sitting at home.
