Popular Bookstore’s Jurong Point Outlet Is Closing Down, With Storewide Discounts Of Up To 90% Off

Popular Bookstore at Jurong Point closing down

Ask any Singaporean, and they’ll have grown up with Popular Bookstore in their lives. Whichever iteration it’s been known as, be it The Popular Book Company, which opened in 1936, or POPULAR, born in 1980, you can be sure that it’s seen generations of Singaporeans pass through its doors.

For many of us, it was where we spent hours browsing books and stationery as students, or trailing along as our parents made their way to our dreaded assessment book aisles. Unfortunately, another chapter is coming to a close. Following the recent closure of its VivoCity outlet, Popular’s Jurong Point outlet will also be shutting its doors.

Why & when is Popular Bookstore at Jurong Point closing down?

With the rise of e-books and other technological replacements for traditional paper and pen, the sad truth is that bookstores are on the decline, and it seems like Popular is feeling that change in the air as well – their VivoCity outlet closed down on 16th August 2026, while the Jurong Point store will close its shutters after 31 years of operations on 13th September 2026.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however, because we’re here with the silver lining – for us consumers at least. The Jurong Point outlet is running a closing-down sale, with 15% off regular-priced items storewide. Selected items also enjoy greater discounts of up to 90% off, and bundle deals are aplenty as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the deals and steals at Popular Jurong Point:

1. Assorted Travel Neck Cushion

$8 (U.P. $16.90-$29.90)

The 1st thing we saw when we entered the store was these cute little 2-in-1 eye masks and neck pillows, perfect for plane rides and road trips on vacation. These cushions zip up into compact spheres you can easily stow away, and come in an assortment of animal designs, including axolotls and penguins.

At $8-$10 each (U.P. $16.90-$29.90), they’re now going for less than half the original price. They’re also suitable for carrying around in your everyday bag for a little snooze on the bus or train.

2. Disney Paint by Number kits

3 for $10 (U.P. $4.90 each)

If you love Sanrio, you know their price tags are usually pretty hefty, so these discounted water bottles are worth the trip down. Plus, their appealing designs can be very motivating for you to get your hydration up in the Singapore weather.

P.S. For more Sanrio merch, check out the new Sanrio store in Chinatown.
