8 Most Romantic Bus Routes In SG – Scenic Views, Best Pit Stops & Budget-Friendly Activities

Romantic bus routes in Singapore

For the partners scratching their heads for date ideas that won’t break the bank, look no further than our humble buses for a dose of inspiration. Besides being the perfect excuse to share earbuds and listen to a curated playlist, these scenic bus routes also double as an effortless date itinerary.

From waterfront views that look like a scene from Spirited Away to misty open fields straight out of Pride & Prejudice, our list of romantic bus routes is perfect for cosying up with your partner and pretending you’re in a music video.

1. Bus 14/14E

An Insta-worthy trip to the east

With candy-coloured Peranakan Houses and 101 Insta-worthy cafes to explore around Katong, Bus 14/14E is the one to take for a date straight out of a Wes Anderson film.

Starting from Clementi Interchange, you’ll cruise past nostalgic HDB estates, historic landmarks like CHIJMES and Raffles Hotel, and postcard-worthy views of the Singapore River as you make your way through the city centre.

Get your camera ready for a quick wefie as the bus crosses over the Merdeka Bridge, with a picture-perfect backdrop of the Kallang River and Marina Bay skyline.

Once you’re in the east, alight at the Opp Roxy Sq (ID: 92111) bus stop along Mountbatten Road and cross over to get a hearty bowl of laksa from the famous 328 Katong Laksa. Explore the charming Katong neighbourhood as you take an 11-minute stroll towards Cafe Wabi Sabi for some afternoon tea in a retro shophouse.

Strike a pose at the iconic Peranakan Houses just around the corner, or spice up your scenic stroll with a colour-hunting challenge and piece together a collage of the neighbourhood’s most aesthetic corners to post on your socials.

Add a little more whimsy to your trip by popping by the Heartware Store and Gallery, just a 3-minute walk away from the Peranakan Houses. You’ll find pop-up exhibitions featuring international artists and adorable prints and trinkets to take home as matching souvenirs.

From now till 26th July 2026, the gallery is hosting Irish comic artist Niall Breen’s first-ever solo exhibition in the region, Lazy Days. In the spirit of slowing down and smelling the roses, the exhibition features the artist’s Dog & Frog characters in quiet conversation, sharing a hug, and cloud spotting. Sounds like the perfect date.

Route: From Clementi Interchange to Bedok Interchange
Total stops: 75
Total duration: 140 minutes

2. Bus 51

A nature trail made for Strava-obsessed couples

Singapore may be tiny, but our abundance of green spaces makes hiking and jogging some of the most convenient and wallet-friendly date ideas. After all, nothing says “I love you” quite like suffering through a sweaty hike in this relentless humidity and making it out side-by-side.

Hop on Bus 51 and kick off your journey through the west, with Pandan Reservoir being one of the first few stops you’ll want to hit. When you reach the Opp Blk 408 (20141) bus stop, hop off and continue your adventure on foot. An 8-minute walk later, and you’ll arrive at the reservoir.

Image credit: Hongbin via Google Maps

Start off strong with a 6km jog along the well-paved trail that follows the edge of the water, and you might even spot a few otters if you’re lucky.

For a fun side-quest, rent a double open-deck kayak from Pandan Lodge and enjoy a leisurely ride together.

Give your legs a break and hop back on the bus until you reach the Opp Labrador Pk Stn (15149) stop. You’ll find yourself at Labrador Nature Reserve after a 12-minute trek. Soak in the sea breeze, and saunter along the 330m-long Bukit Chermin Boardwalk. On one side of the boardwalk, you’ll spot conserved colonial bungalows and rocky shores, and sweeping views of the sea on the other.

If a 330m stroll sounds too easy, the coastal boardwalk makes up just one section of the full 2.1km Labrador Nature & Coastal Walk, so you can still close those rings.

Once you’ve soaked in the view, get back on the bus and head to your final stop, Opp Alexandra Retail Centre (15049). From there, it’s a 16-minute hike to HortPark, one of the more underrated gems along the Southern Ridges trail. The 23ha park is the perfect resting spot for a picnic or casual stroll around, with over 10 themed gardens to explore.

The Therapeutic Garden, designed in line with the principles of horticultural therapy, features a romantic gazebo where you’ll get to slow down and enjoy some uninterrupted quality time. It may not be the iconic glass gazebo from the Sixteen Going on Seventeen duet scene, but it has all the romantic, whimsical charm of a setting straight out of The Sound of Music.

Turn the romance up a notch at the Butterfly Garden, where the winged residents are sure to get your heart fluttering.

Then keep the sparks flying over a hearty meal at the all-day brunch spot Canopy or opt for something a little fancier with Vineyard, a French-inspired restaurant serving up ala carte buffet ($58/pax) with mains like French Duck Confit and King Oyster Mushroom Steak.

Route: From Jurong East Interchange to Hougang Central Interchange
Total stops: 95
Total duration: 146 minutes

3. Bus 89

A laid-back route for outdoorsy couples

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and hop on Bus 89 from Hougang Central Interchange (64009) for a tour of the heartlands. While the scenery is pretty average since it mainly runs through neighbourhoods, it’s still a super handy route for a spur-of-the-moment date.

Hop off at the Downtown East (78109) bus stop to head to Wild Wild Wet for some fun under the sun, or make your way to Pasir Ris Park, just a 5-minute walk away, ideal for a slow bike ride around the park or frolicking along the 6ha mangrove boardwalk.

Image credit: 陈媛 via Google Maps

If staying active is your shared love language, PAssion WaVe @ Pasir Ris also offers rock climbing sessions (from $6 for members and $7 for the public), as well as water activities like dinghy sailing and stand-up paddling.

Or ride off into the sunset together at Gallop Stable, a horseback riding centre where you can feed their horses ($2) or try riding lessons (from $45).

There’s still more to do along the way. Get back on the bus and enjoy the journey until you arrive at the Bef S’pore Aviation Ac (99181) bus stop. Changi Beach Park is just an 8-minute stroll away.

The Seletar Aerospace Park might be the go-to spot for plane-watching, but Changi Beach Park might top it with its intimate vibe, soothing sea breeze, and panoramic views of planes soaring overhead. Plus, it happens to be a great spot to recreate that iconic beach scene from Endless Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

After a romantic sunset stroll, end your night on a sweet note with some old-school desserts at the Changi Village Hawker Centre, just a 3-minute walk away.

Image credit: House of Melissa’s Boutique Farmstay via Google Maps

If your partner’s birthday or your anniversary is around the corner, score some extra brownie points with a night at House of Melissa’s Boutique Farmstay (from $235/night). The colonial-style retreat is fitted with a swimming pool for a refreshing dip, as well as a BBQ pit and pizza oven for a late-night supper fix.

The farmstay is a 10-minute walk from Opp Maranatha B-P Ch (99031) or St. George Chapel (99039) bus stop.

Route: Hougang Interchange to Airport Cargo Road (Loop Service)
Total stops: 28
Total duration: 135 minutes

4. Bus 117 or 103

Scenes that look straight out of an anime

There are views of the water on both sides, so it doesn’t matter where you’re sitting.

Calling the couples whose perfect date is bingeing anime together – this one’s for you. A ride on Bus 117 or 103 might just be the closest thing you’ll get to a real-life Studio Ghibli scene. The seemingly endless stretch of water along Yishun Dam feels oddly reminiscent of Chihiro and No Face’s magical train ride in Spirited Away.

You’ll want to catch the bus around 6.30pm and snag that seat on the upper deck for the best view of the sun as it sets behind the dam.

Image credit: Wheeler’s Estate via Google Maps

For a brunch date, waterfront cafes like Wheeler’s Estate and Wildseed Cafe and Bar are both just a 3-minute walk away from the Bef Baker St (68099) bus stop.

Just a minute away from the same bus stop is also the Hampstead Wetlands Park, where you’ll find water lilies that look like they belong in a scene from Ponyo.

If you’re taking bus 103, alight at the Affinity at Serangoon (63201) bus stop near Japanese Cemetery Park, where you can walk hand-in-hand with your lover through pink floral archways reminiscent of the cherry blossoms in Japan.

Your best bet to catch the pink bougainvillaeas in full bloom is to head down after the rainy season, and you might want to bring a tripod with you to get that perfect couple shot.

Bus 117
Route: From Punggol Interchange to Sembawang Interchange
Total stops: 37
Total duration: 55 minutes

Bus 103
Route: Serangoon Interchange to Yishun Interchange
Total stops: 43
Total duration: 60 minutes

5. Bus 123

A slow & scenic cross-island route

Starting from Bukit Merah Interchange (10009), you’re in for a slow and serene ride through the nostalgic Queenstown estate towards Holland Village and the Singapore Botanic Gardens aboard Bus 123.

Along the way, you’ll want to alight at the Napier Stn Exit 1 (13019) bus stop to find a lesser-known spot hidden within the gardens. Just enter through Tanglin Gate, and you’ll stumble upon Swan Lake about a 7-minute walk away.

Whether you’re a millennial with a soft spot for classic rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally or a Gen Z who has memorised the lyrics to That’s How You Know from Disney’s Enchanted, one thing’s for sure – Central Park is one of the most iconic spots in recent rom-com history.

We might not have Central Park, but Swan Lake comes pretty close. It’s even got its own romantic gazebo lookout spot, great for a quiet moment alone with your partner. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the iconic pair of mute swans from Amsterdam gliding across the still waters.

From there, the bus takes you through River Valley and Orchard Road before heading south. Bus 123 is the only public bus that takes you directly through Sentosa Gateway, past Resorts World Sentosa and all the way to the final stop of the ride, Beach Station Bus Terminal (14539).

You’ll want to get a window seat on the right side of the upper deck to get an extra magical view of the Far Far Away Castle.

Get off at the Resorts World Sentosa (14519) bus stop for a trip to the Singapore Oceanarium – previously S.E.A Aquarium – that’s straight out of a scene from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You.

Route: From Bukit Merah Interchange to Beach Station Bus Terminal
Total stops: 43
Total duration: 61-104 minutes

6. Bus 145

Go on museum-hopping dates & play tourist in your own city

Almost everyone loves a nighttime car ride through the city, but in this economy, it might be smarter for your wallet to opt for the bus and save for that next anniversary date instead. Thankfully, Bus 145 has got you covered.

One of the more popular routes for sightseeing, it passes through iconic landmarks like the colourful Old Hill Street Police Station and historic sites including the Sultan Mosque, Sri Mariamman Temple, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

Fun fact: Quite a few places like Boat Quay and Chinatown, also featured in Singapore Airlines’s older in-flight safety video from 2017, are a stone’s throw away from various stops of Bus 145’s route. So yes, you’re riding through a curated reel of some of Singapore’s most unexpectedly romantic corners.

Live out your Midnight in Paris dreams and go on a museum-hopping date through the Civic District. Hop off at Opp the Treasury (04249) or Old Hill St Police Stn (04223) to start your journey at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Entry is free for all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, with permanent exhibitions on Levels 1 to 3 featuring art and artefacts across various themes.

Image credit: National Gallery Singapore via Facebook

Right next door, the National Gallery Singapore has free and ticketed exhibitions and programmes. Catch the gallery’s first R18 exhibition show, Passion is Volcanic: Desire in Southeast Asian Art, happening from now till 30th August 2026. It explores desire, eroticism, and the body over 70 artworks featuring rarely seen pieces from the National Collection. Tickets start from $5 and can be purchased on-site.

While you’re there, head up to Milli Sky Dining & Bar on the rooftop for lunch overlooking the skyline, with front-seat views of the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay, and the CBD. The 3-course lunch set starts from $38 and features local dishes with a fusion twist. Don’t forget to try their cocktails like The Singaporean Breakfast ($28), an Espresso Martini inspired by kaya toast and kopi.

Continuing on your journey, you’ll arrive at Singapore Art Museum via the Opp Former Railway Stn (14061) or Former Railway Stn (14069) bus stop. Stop by their latest exhibition, Hiroshi Sugimoto: Form Is Emptiness, which draws on Buddhist concepts of the mandala and texts to examine the role interpretation plays in our understanding of reality. It’s open from now till 4th October 2026, and a ticket costs $15 for Singapore Citizens and PRs.

Route: From Buona Vista Terminal to Toa Payoh Interchange
Total stops: 55
Total duration: 90 minutes

7. Bus 172

A cinephile couple’s perfect route

You might have heard of Bus 172 before, thanks to its reputation as one of the scariest bus rides in Singapore, but trust us when we say it’s a completely different vibe in the early hours of dawn.

Jalan Bahar.

Think ethereal mist cascading over open fields without another soul in sight, as if you’ve slipped into another world. We can’t help but think of that scene when Mr Darcy emerges through the fog to meet Elizabeth in Pride & Prejudice – you know the one.

Though it’s one of the shorter routes on this list, the bus will still take you and your partner on winding roads through the tranquil fields and forests along Old Choa Chu Kang Road and Jalan Bahar.

There’s more than just peaceful views to look forward to along the way. Alight at either the Home Team Academy (30049) or Opp Track 14 (30059) bus stop, and make the 20-minute trek to Qian Hu Fish Farm. While it may not be the most convenient, entry is free, and it’s got enough activities to keep you occupied for the afternoon.

The ornamental fish farm is one of the biggest in Singapore, and with the many rows of fish tanks, it’s giving the same vibe as that famous scene from Romeo + Juliet when the lovers lock eyes through a fish tank.

Soak in the fish spa for 30 minutes ($10/pax) or go on an old-school longkang fishing date (30 minutes for $7/pax, 1 hour for $12/pax) with a complimentary fish tank for you to take home.

Image credit: Tenplus via Google Maps

Grab dinner at Tenplus, a safari-themed bistro located a 10-minute walk away from the Opp Chengtai Nursery (30099) bus stop. You’ll want to give their crowd favourite Torched Aburi Prawn & Clam Pasta ($22.90) and Grilled Angus Cheese Burger ($25.90) a try.

BTW, they also have free live band performances after 7pm on the weekends. They even take song dedications, so consider this your chance to sweep your partner off their feet with a little romantic gesture.

Route: Choa Chu Kang Interchange to Boon Lay Interchange (Loop)
Total stops:  31
Total duration: 33 minutes

8. Bus 518

Tour Marina Bay with date activities for any budget

Just like Bus 145, Bus 518 is also up there on the list as of the more well-loved routes amongst those chasing city views and stunning skyline shots for the ‘Gram.

Starting from the heartlands, this ordinary bus ride turns into a low-budget city tour once you hit the expressway going towards Orchard and Dhoby Ghaut, before finally looping through Bayfront Avenue.

Be sure to have your camera on stand-by when you’re at the Opp The Ritz-Carlton (02171) bus stop as that’s the last stop before the bus takes you onto Bayfront Avenue, parallel to Helix Bridge. The best seats in the house are up front on the upper deck to catch a glimpse of Marina Bay Sands looming overhead in all its glory.

Don’t get too distracted though, as there are better views waiting for you. Remember to get off at the Bayfront Station Exit B (03509) bus stop to make your way to Marina Bay Sands hotel. Head to Hotel Tower 3, Level 56 to make it to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck.

Image adapted from: @hanniezulkifli via Instagram

Time to put your partner’s photo-taking skills to the test, because your OOTDs are about to be next level with views of Esplanade, the ArtScience Museum, Gardens by the Bay, and Marina Barrage serving as the perfect backdrop.

Tickets to the Skypark Observation Deck can be purchased on-site, but we’d recommend reserving a slot online in advance if you’re chasing those golden-hour views. Admission starts from $35/pax during non-peak hours between 10am and 4.30pm, and $39/pax for slots between 5pm and 10pm.

Or switch things up with a silent disco party in the sky, with select dates available and tickets starting from $45 for the first 200 sign-ups. We might not be shutting down the sky pool for an engagement party like in Crazy Rich Asians just yet, but one can dream.

For those on a budget, you can still catch the free 15-minute Spectra Light & Water Show at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, featuring dancing fountains, lasers, and visual projections. Shows run at 8pm and 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, with an additional 10pm show on Fridays and Saturdays.

Dance at Dusk by The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Company will be performed from 12th to 14th June 2026, at 6pm and 7.30pm.

Or jam out to free live musical and dance performances at the DBS Foundation Esplanade Outdoor Theatre with new shows every weekend. Check out the Esplanade website for the line-up.

If you’re up for an adventure, sign up for a free session with DBS’s Sailing At The Bay, but be quick – fastest fingers win as there are only 10 spots per session. This one might take a little more planning, as you may need to snag tickets from the DBS Sailing website up to a month in advance to get a slot, especially for weekend slots.

Route: From Pasir Ris Interchange to Bayfront Avenue (Loop service)
Total stops: 90
Total duration: 120 minutes
