A quick 9-minute cab ride from Batam Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal is where you’ll find Four Points by Sheraton Batam, opened in 2020. Despite being a semi-luxury hotel, their rooms feature modern and trendy designs that are not at all gaudy.

If you’re the active type of vacationer, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s an outdoor swimming pool and 24-hour gym. Now if we’re talking about cardio activity of a different nature, the hotel is near Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, the biggest mall in Batam.
It’s about 6 minutes away via cab or 15 minutes on foot, and you’ll be stepping into a shopaholics haven with department stores, luxury fashion boutiques, budget-friendly shops, loads of restaurants, and 2 different food courts. There’s also a cinema, KTV studio, and Timezone arcade should you want a break from bargain-hunting.

2. favehotel Nagoya Batam – Apartment-style units with kitchenettes

Opened in July 2022, favehotel Nagoya Batam is situated in the city centre of Batam and designed for travelling business folks. You could even make this your Work From Hotel spot!
The fabroom (from S$75/night) resembles a whole flat rather than your typical hotel room. There are facilities like a kitchenette with an induction stove and full-size fridge, so you can whip up a meal or two or heat up some leftovers.

The units even have balconies, allowing guests to step out for fresh air and watch the hustle and bustle of Batam city whizz by. It’s definitely a change of scenery from the typical Batam beachside getaways.

3. Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay – First 5-star hotel in Batam
Fun fact: prior to Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay’s opening in 2020, Batam only had hotels which received up to 4-star luxury ratings. This Batam Marriott Hotel made history as the first hotel on the island to clinch 5 stars, opening up a new level of opulence for your next Batam vacay.

As you’d expect, the rooms are decked out in atas furnishings. Check in during off-peak seasons for room rates as low as S$230/night for the Deluxe King Room, a fraction of the price for 5-star hotel stays in Singapore.
If you’re feeling particularly baller, you can splurge on the Executive Suite (from S$992/night) which measures 73sqm. For reference, that’s slightly larger than an entire 3-room BTO unit.

4. Beverly Hotel Batam – Top-rated international buffet & local dishes

Opened in 2019 before the start of the pandemic, Beverly Hotel Batam is a low-key gem which not many Singaporeans are privy to. With cushy rooms from under S$50/night, staying here would be quite the steal considering the hotel is 4 stars. It’s already amassed close to 400 Google reviews though, with a solid consumer rating of 4.5 stars.
The rooms are classically designed, clad in warm tones and marble finishes in the bathrooms. For Superior Rooms, you’ll get a bathtub as well – and it’ll still be well under S$100/night.

To fuel up, their in-house eatery Anambas Restaurant serves up an international buffet ranging from continental breakfast to sushi.
There are plenty of positive reviews online for the food from both local guests as well as travellers, and you really ought to try their rendition of local dishes like ayam bakar – charcoal-grilled chicken, and kambing asam pedas – a tangy and spicy mutton stew.

5. Aston Nagoya City Hotel – Spacious suites from S$84/night

6. CozyHomes at One Residence Batam – Sea views from S$58/night
For a more unique choice, consider this condo-style accommodation that lets you savour what island life is like. One Residence Batam is a new condo which launched in 2020, and CozyHomes is their hotel arm.
The condo’s location grants residents unblocked ocean views and a nice sea breeze.

The rooms have designs that are simple, clean-cut, and not lavish by any means. But you can still expect a comfy stay, and perhaps the number one draw: panoramic ocean views. There are also amenities like kitchens with dining counters, cosy desk corners for you to get some work done, and TVs so you can kick back and relax.

7. Batam View Beach Resort – Major revamp after 30+ years

This is technically a revamp, but Batam View Beach Resort has undergone such a major facelift in 2021 that staying here would be a whole new experience. The upgrading involved refreshing the exterior of the building – which had been erected in 1986 – and renovating the 212 rooms throughout the resort.
New additions include bigger conference halls that can fit up to 300 pax, and a Spa Village which houses a salon, treatment rooms, steam baths and saunas, and a gym.

Activity options within the resort include a mini motorbike park, karaoke studio, and games room with old-school board games as well as Kinect console games.
