Louisa Coffee at Guoco Midtown
In case you haven’t heard the news, Taiwan’s popular coffee chain Louisa Coffee has finally graced our shores. Located at Guoco Midtown, this cafe has both their Taiwan specialty drinks and Singapore-exclusive drinks. But best of all, the place has plenty of seating and charging outlets – perfect for those looking for a WFH alternative. Here’s the low-down on the cafe:

SMU students, you’re in luck as Louisa Coffee is just a stone’s throw away from your campus. If you’re travelling over from somewhere else, the cafe is a quick 5-minute walk from Bugis MRT. Très convenient if you’re carrying a bunch of lecture notes and your heavy-ass laptop.

There’s a tonne of sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, so you’ll have no trouble reading your notes.
Seatings are aplenty here; no need to camp and compete with fellow students for seats. There are around 70 outdoor and indoor seatings to choose from, including the comfy sofa seats and chic high chairs.

Of course, every study date essentials includes charging ports. If your laptop’s battery health is as weak as your will to study, make sure you chope a seat at the long wooden table. There’s a line of outlets in the middle so you and your friends need not take turns.
Otherwise, consider the seats at the alfresco area – the outdoor section is pet-friendly so you might spot a cute doggo or two.

You’ll need some fuel from all that mugging. Louisa Coffee’s affordable menu includes their signature drinks from the Taiwan outlets like Coffee Latte ($4.90) that’s made with authentic coffee beans from Taiwan. Or, get the Iced Black Coffee Latte ($6.90) – expect a delightful blend of black sesame, espresso, and milk with every sip.
Tea lovers can try their Ceylon Black Tea or Green Tea too. Each costs only $3.60, which, if you think about it, might be even cheaper than your usual BBT order. Score.

If you’re feeling peckish, check out their food selection. Savoury options include the Cheese Tart ($4.50), Beef Pastrami Sandwich ($5.80), and Chicken Ham & Cheese Wrapanini ($6.50) that’ll make a great tea time snack.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with their Boston Cream Pie series ($6.50/slice) – they have flavours like matcha, black sesame, and taro. We’ve heard that the taro pie is a huge hit, with its light chiffon-like texture and chewy mochi filling.
