A New Lifestyle Hub Is Opening In Johor In Aug 2026, With Sea Views & Alfresco Dining Options

Sunway Puteri Hills

Surprise surprise, there’s another new hotspot popping up in Johor. This time, Westies who will be the ones squealing with joy, as the upcoming Sunway Puteri Hills lifestyle hub in Johor will be just a short drive away from the Tuas Checkpoint

Unlike the shiny new SKS City Mall in JB, it isn’t your traditional retail haunt with rows of shops to satisfy the shopaholic within, but it still might be worth a visit, especially if you’re a huge foodie. Here’s all you need to know about it, from what tenants to look forward to visiting to the spot’s scenic waterfront views.

How to get to Sunway Puteri Hills?

Sunway Puteri Hills is located within Iskandar Puteri, a city in Johor. The city is right across the Tuas Checkpoint and from there, it’ll take you roughly 30 minutes of driving to get to Sunway City Iskandar Puteri.

You can also opt to take the public buses from JB Sentral to get there, but that entails a whole lot of transfers and walking to different bus stops, so we definitely recommend either driving there yourself, or booking a private hire vehicle. According to Grab, a ride from CIQ Second Link to Sunway Puteri Hills costs around RM27 (~S$8.48).

What to expect at Iskandar Puteri?

Dubbed Johor’s first elevated garden dining and lifestyle destination, Sunway Puteri Hills is set to open in the coming weeks. Although no official opening date has been announced yet, their Instagram page has revealed that everything should be up and running by August 2026.

Upon making your way there, the first thing about Sunway Puteri Hills is its unique layout. Apart from standard buildings and restaurants on ground level, there are raised bungalows that will house eateries within.

This means diners will have a sweeping view of their surroundings, which feature stunning sea-facing views of the Straits of Johor on one side, and the Jeffrey Cheah Circuit on the other. You heard right – apart from feeling the cool sea breeze on your skin, you just might catch a glimpse of supercars zooming across the asphalt at a private motorsports track nearby.

But of course, the food is what you’ll want to make the trip here for. As of writing, the development has secured at least 10 F&B tenants. These include Made on Monday, an eatery famous for their yummy Western mains and juicy lobster rolls, and A’Rest Cafe, which looks like a prime spot to enjoy a late Sunday brunch, indulging in their pastries & matcha creations.

Another spot to hit up on your cafe-hopping run at Sunway Puteri Hills is Kenny Hills Baker, an establishment hailing from KL whose signature items include a range of sourdough breads, burnt cheesecake, and peach strudel. When you’re swinging by for dinner, Padi House has you covered with hearty fusion mains such as Padi Chicken Chop Rice, Salmon Pesto Pasta, and Nasi Lemak sets.

Sunway Big Box

While there’s no word on their retail offerings just yet, we wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of stores decide to call Sunway Puteri Hills home too. But if you just need to scratch your itch for some retail therapy, Sunway Big Box is just a couple of minutes away by car. X Park Sunway Iskandar is also in the vicinity, in case you get your thrills from roller coasters rather than hunting for bargains.

Plan a visit to Sunway Puteri Hills in Johor this August

We Singaporeans don’t really need extra reasons to cross the Causeway for some fun, but things can get stale when we’re hitting up the same ol’ cafes in JB. As such, Sunway Puteri Hills is a welcome addition to our Johor day trip itineraries, so do keep tabs on its opening in the coming weeks.
