Few things are as stunning as fields of blooming flowers emerging when spring comes around. But the season doesn’t exist in Singapore, so you gotta make a trip overseas to stop and smell the flowers.

To get your travel wishlist going, we’ve scoured some of the prettiest spring destinations and flower fields near Singapore. Each offers a healthy dose of wildflowers, birds and breeze, and, most importantly, a serious escape from the concrete jungle that is the Little Red Dot.


1. Singha Park in Chiang Rai, Thailand

Singha Park in Chiang Rai, Thailand is a picturesque place.

It has sprawling cosmos fields, a petting zoo where you can feed zebras and giraffes, and miles of fruit orchards fresh for the harvest. As an added bonus, the park is free to visit. If it’s sweltering when you visit and you’d prefer not to work up a sweat, the garden has a tram and bikes to help you see the sights on wheels.

2. I Love Flower Farm in Chiang Mai, Thailand

At I Love Flowers Farm in Chiang Mai, you’ll see fields full of red celosia, blue hydrangea, purple lavender, and white cutter flowers that run as far as the eye can see.

As the flowers bloom seasonally, you’ll get to catch different varieties on full display depending on when you go. Try to plan your visit after 5pm if you’d like to experience all the glory of the farm at sundown. Don’t forget to follow your flower sightings with a free icy cold drink and a Thai dessert that come with your admission ticket.

3. Hydrangea Flower Field in Dalat, Vietnam

The rolling terrain of Dalat truly pops in spring when the hydrangeas come into full bloom. 

About 800 miles south of Hanoi, the mountainous region attracts flocks of locals around April when the Hydrangea Flower Field explodes with colours. Peep the bright blues, whites, and purples sprouting from the grassy hills at this prime location that newlyweds frequent for wedding photoshoots. 

Besides taking in the stunning vistas and hundreds of photos, another thing you can do is buy hydrangeas to bring home as souvenirs.

4. Sa Dec Flower Village in Dong Thap, Vietnam

Probably the most famous name in the Vietnamese flower circuit is Sa Dec Flower Village.

Located a 3-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, the village is the largest flower field and farm in the whole of Vietnam – 60 hectares in size, to be exact. In Spring, the space is strewn with thousands of roses, chrysanthemums, and pennyworts, alongside thistle and fig trees and 100-year-old rare bonsais.

Within Sa Dec Flower Village, you’ll also find plenty of corners to keep the whole crew entertained. There’s ziplining at Happy Land Hung Thy, an old villa that’s bedecked in 20th-century ornaments, and cultural sites such as a temple and a pagoda.

5. Lavender Garden in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

You won’t have to travel far to sniff the sweet smell of lavender. Just head to Lavender Garden at Cameron Highlands in Malaysia to immerse yourself in a scented sea of purple.

Wander through the complex and you’ll find several whimsical sights and activities. There’s the Hokkaido lavender nurseries, a strawberry garden with plump fruits ready to be plucked, a souvenir shop that resembles a castle, and a cafe where you can munch on lavender-infused desserts.

6. Palazzo Verde Sunflower Garden in Manila, Philippines

If you cruise along the Daang Hari highway, it’s hard to picture the busy lanes taking you anywhere that could be dubbed dreamy. But it will.

A 50-minute drive from Manila, the masterpiece that’s Palazzo Verde Sunflower Garden is located just off the highway. If you time your visit around late spring, which is around April to May, you’ll get to see patches of towering sunflowers surrounding a glass house.

The whole scene looks straight out of a storybook and might make you forget that you’re on the side of an industrial street.

7. Marigolds field in Bali, Indonesia


The temples and beach clubs in Bali might get all the attention, but the Marigolds Field near Mount Agung is also special and worthy of a visit.

The scenic destination is about 2 hours away by car from Seminyak. Though marigolds bloom throughout the year in Bali, the field explodes in colour around April and May, after a few wet months. Time your visit wisely so you can see the best blooms and even the summit of Mount Agung, if you’re up to do some hiking in Bali.

Marigold Fields is free to enter. However, since it relies on donations, you may wish to shell out a few bucks to contribute to the garden’s upkeep.

8. Cherry blossoms in Alishan Forest, Taiwan

With rolling hills, wooded paths, and over 19,000 Sakura trees, the sweeping landscape of Alishan Forest in Taiwan turns into a supreme cherry blossom viewing spot every spring. 

You can stroll through the forest on foot to take in the scenery, sprawl out on the grass for a picnic, or hop on the steam train for a guided tour. To take in the best view, plan your visit around mid-March or early April, when the trees are expected to reach their full bloom.
