Staycation with RWSMoments

After a hectic week of work, we were craving a much-needed retreat. Thankfully we were going to check out the new staycation packages RWSMoments had come up with, that bundled RWS hotel stays with their attractions like Universal Studios, Adventure Cove and ESPA.

For me, this was especially memorable because I got to tour Universal Studios Singapore (USS) and dine at celebrity chef restaurants for the very first time. Here’s our insiders look at the RWSmoments package.

ESPA – An oasis of tranquillity

I felt blessed to have my favourite companions on this staycation with me. Bryan and I started our day with the luxurious treatments and signature facilities at destination spa ESPA. And yes, ESPA really looks just like all those pictures you see.

Their signature Turkish Hamman is the first of its kind in Singapore. It’s a soul rejuvenating bath ritural where you will feel like Egyptian Kings and Queens. Therapists scrub and douse you in heated water as you lay on a wooden bed in a steamed room.

Right after that, we indulged in an hour-long massage that pushed all the right buttons, making me fall into a deep slumber a couple of times. It was a smooth transition from Hamman to the massage, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

The service was good, but I think there were some areas that could be improved, be it on minute details such as the temperature of the water or even the masseur’s attitude and demeanour.

“Spa Cuisine” Lunch at Tangerine at ESPA

Finally, it was my favourite time of the day – LUNCH TIME!

It was my first dining experience at Tangerine, the resident restaurant at ESPA which offers light and nutritious dishes. Although the food was impeccable, the portion was awfully small and we only had a 2-course meal! Would love to have stayed on for desserts but we had to meet our other buddies.

b2ap3_thumbnail_ESP4.jpgOther than the serving size, the food and experience was fantastic. Can’t wait to be back here! Another RWS restaurant you can consider on your staycation here is Osia at festive walk.

Universal Studios Singapore at last!

We met up with the TSL posse and spruced up for awhile in our hotel suite before going to Universal Studios. And by sprucing up I mean having a photo shoot at our super spacious Hotel Equarius Room!

The balcony and bathrooms here are enormous. You could comfortably fit a sizeable group of friends here.

We then headed over to USS and only at the gantry did I realise it was my very first time here, so it was especially emotional for me. I was exhilarated that I had Bryan, Christabel and Felicia to spend the day with. Also check out this article for a more detailed write up of what to expect at Universal Studios Singapore in 2014.

Dinner at Forest

Dining at Forest afterwards was a relaxing and casual affair despite the grandeur of the restaurant. Although the lunch we had at Forest earlier this year was pretty good, the dinner was on a whole different level. Celebrity Chef Sam Leong has come up with such inspirational fusion dishes!

My picks for the evening were Buddha Jumps Over The Wall and Foie Gras with Wagyu Steak.b2ap3_thumbnail_ESPA5.jpgBryan absolutely loved his ma po tofu which to our surprise came with a giant crab claw.b2ap3_thumbnail_Forest-RWS.JPGThe Avocado Ice Cream was a delicious way to end the night.b2ap3_thumbnail_ESPA14.jpgThe dinner at Forest was magical. But unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said of their breakfast the next day, which is not prepared by Sam Leong. To put it nicely, the simple breakfast did not match up to the rest of what hotel Equarius offered.

Verdict

When enjoyed individually, all these can add up to a hefty sum. That is the whole point of the new RWSmoments packages, which allows you to enjoy huge savings when bundled together. It was quite surprising Bryan had to pay a deposit of $600+ for the standard room guarantee when we checked in – which indicated the cost of the room at hotel Equarius itself.

But for just $628, you can enjoy two nights stay at any four RWS hotels (including Equarius!) and free admission for two to the S.E.A aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark and Universal Studios. The $100 ESPA Credit for Equarius Hotel was icing on the cake, and I promptly used it to buy exclusive ESPA body oil!

It’s a good value for money package for celebrating anniversaries or birthdays with your loved ones.
