Plaza Singapura’s upcoming renovations & stores that are closing
From food to retail and air-conditioning under one roof, it’s no wonder Singaporeans love going to shopping malls. While there may be new or recently renovated malls in SG, it’s time for us to say goodbye to one of Singapore’s most iconic malls, Plaza Singapura.
Well, just for a bit – the mall isn’t going anywhere, but will be getting a refresh with an updated facade and more retail options. Since the revamp will be conducted in phases beginning August 2026, not all of the stores will be affected at once. We headed down to check out which levels will be undergoing changes, which tenants will be relocating within the mall, and which stores will be leaving for good.
When are the renovations starting & ending?

The mall’s revamp will be conducted in phases, starting from August 2026 and ending at the end of 2028. Renovation work will begin on Level 7, with B1 set for renovations in 2027 and B2 in 2028 as part of the final phase.
However, you’ll still be able to visit Plaza Singapura as it will remain fully operational, although some stores will be closing down soon. More on that below.
Why is Plaza Singapura getting a revamp?

The upcoming revamp is part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s vision to enhance Orchard Road into a more pedestrian-friendly and experience-led lifestyle destination. This means you can look forward to expanded green networks as well as improved public connections around Istana Park, which is part of the Orchard Road Rejuvenation Initiative.
What to expect from the Plaza Singapura renovation?

When works are complete, visitors can look forward to a redesigned Level 1 frontage along Orchard Road, featuring all-day dining concepts nestled among nature. There’ll also be a new facade at the Handy Road drop-off, which is inspired by natural geometric forms.
One of Plaza Singapura’s most iconic features – the floating bridges on Levels 3 and 5, currently housing Secret Recipe and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – will be transformed into “floating gardens”. Expect new dining options where you’ll get to enjoy a meal surrounded by greenery.
The basement level will also undergo a revamp to include an expanded mix of retail shops as well as improved connectivity to Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.
What will happen to the existing stores in Plaza Singapura?
While we look forward to the new Plaza Singapura, it’s also, unfortunately, the end of an era for some of the familiar shops we’ve been visiting for years. As the renovations will be carried out in phases, many tenants have yet to confirm if or when they’ll be closing. So we headed down to find out which stores are saying their final goodbyes, and which ones will simply be relocating elsewhere within the mall.
Outlets that are closing
1. Golden Village Plaza
Closing after 28 years
After almost 3 decades, Golden Village Plaza will be bidding goodbye to moviegoers. 6 halls will screen their final movies on 2nd August 2026, with the cinema’s final day falling on 16th August 2026.
As part of its farewell promotions, the cinema will be giving away 10,000 free popcorn or Coca-Cola. Simply purchase a ticket online for a screening at GV Plaza from now till 16th August for a chance to win an e-voucher for a free regular popcorn or Coca-Cola. While movie tickets have to be purchased for a screening at Plaza Singapura, the e-vouchers can be redeemed at all GV locations.

2. Otaku House
40% off storewide
If you’re an anime fan, you’d most likely have made a trip down to Otaku House at least once to stock up on figurines or collectible trading cards. After almost 2 decades, its outlet at Plaza Singapura will be shuttering its doors on 16th August 2026. While there is currently no news on whether Otaku House will be returning after renovations are complete, thankfully, there are still 3 other outlets at Jewel Changi Airport, PLQ Mall, and Suntec City for you to shop anime merchandise and collectibles.
Otaku House is also holding a moving-out sale with 40% off its items, so if you’ve been looking to add a new anime collectible to your collection, now’s your chance to get it at a steal.
3. CAESARS
Selling collectible weaponry
CAESARS is another store that has been around for almost 2 decades and will be bidding goodbye to customers in mid-August 2026. Known as one of SG’s top retailers for weaponry collectibles and offering products such as armour, guns, and swords, CAESARS is the spot if you’re looking to add unique pieces to your collection or simply admire the craftsmanship behind these replicas.
The store is also having a goodbye sale, where members get to enjoy 30% off regular-priced items and non-members get 20% off. There’ll also be up to 75% off selected items, so if you’ve been meaning to add to your collection, head down before CAESARS closes down its physical shop.
Post store closure, you’ll still be able to shop online on the CAESARS website.
4. Wanderlust x Playdress
Smart casual wear
Wanderlust x Playdress has been offering smart casual wear at its Plaza Singapura location since 2021. Unfortunately, the brand will be closing its shutters at the end of July 2026. While the store’s exact closing date has not been confirmed, we can vouch for its ongoing sale. Aside from 30% off regular-priced items, you’ll also find 2 for $25 bundle deals.
You’ll still be able to shop Playdress at its other outlets located at Westgate, I12 Katong, and Citylink.
5. Movie Replicas
Collectible figurines from Marvel & DC
Fans of the Marvel Universe or DC Comics are likely to be familiar with Movie Replicas. From collectible figurines to trading cards and pop culture merch, this store has been a fixture in Plaza Singapura for almost 20 years. Sadly, the store will be saying goodbye to its spot in the mall on 12th August 2026.
But for those looking to stock up on merch before its closure, there’s no need to splurge all at one go for now – the store will be relocating to CitiLink Mall, with its grand opening set for 1st September 2026.
6. Secret Recipe
Signature cakes & pasta
If you’ve been to Plaza Singapura, you’ll be familiar with Secret Recipe, which occupies the link bridge on Level 3, serving hungry customers their signature cakes and pastas. As part of the mall’s revamp of its iconic link bridges, the restaurant will be serving its last dishes on 27th July 2026. So if you have fond memories of enjoying a meal here, now’s the time to drop by for one last visit.
7. Paper Rice @ Plaza Singapura
Classic Vietnamese dishes
Since its opening in 2021, Paper Rice @ Plaza Singapura has been dishing out classic Vietnamese dishes like pho and bun cha. Its convenient location made it a popular choice among nearby students and office workers looking for a quick and satisfying meal in town.
The restaurant will be closing on 30th July 2026 – drop by to enjoy your favourite dishes before it’s gone for good.
Outlets that are relocating within the mall
8. Simply Toys
Anime merchandise
While there may be a few stores in Plaza Singapura that sell anime merchandise and collectibles, Simply Toys ups the game by also selling a selection of cute plushies and blind boxes.
The good news is that the store won’t be leaving Plaza Singapura – it’s slated for a relocation within the mall itself, with exact details to be announced.
9. Sephora
Iconic beauty retailer
You might have already noticed the boarded-up units signalling the move of Sephora to near Muji on Level 1. The beauty retailer will be closing its original #01-56/7 units on 31st July 2026. While its reopening date at its new spot is still unconfirmed, you don’t have to worry about having to miss out on your beauty fix as you’ll still be able to shop Sephora online.
10. Osim

Osim is another store that will be relocating within the mall. While its new location is still not confirmed, we spoke to the staff and found out that Osim will be relocating to Level 4 sometime in October 2026.
Visit Plaza Singapura before stores close for the mall’s revamp

Ahead of the iconic mall’s renovations, some familiar faces have already started bidding farewell. Restaurants like Tim Ho Wan have already closed with no plans to return once renovations are complete.
Since the revamp will be rolled out in phases, not all outlets are sure of their future just yet. That’s why while stores such as Hooga have plans for a temporary closure amidst renovation works, other stores like Cotton On Kids aren’t certain if they’ll be relocating within Plaza Singapura or leaving for good.
With renovations set to begin in August, now’s your chance to take one last stroll through Plaza Singapura as you know it and revisit some of its familiar tenants before the mall gets its new look.
