11 Best Swimming Pools In SG Apart From ActiveSG, Including Pay-Per-Use Pools From Just $2/Adult

Pay-per-use swimming pools in Singapore

The weather these days is sweltering more often than not. And during the times when the sun is high up in the sky, and there are no clouds or even a breeze, all we want to do is jump into a swimming pool. But if you don’t live in a condo with that amenity, you’re likely considering braving the crowds at ActiveSG pools.

Turns out, there are more swimming spots in Singapore for those who want to get those laps in, or simply take a refreshing dip to escape the heat. We’ve rounded up some pay-per-use swimming pools in Singapore to check out.

Getting ready for the pool

A swim suit and sunblock are the basics you’ll need for the pool. But here are essentials you’ll want to bring with you for every trip to the pool:

  • Swimwear:
    • Men: swim trunks would offer sufficient coverage at a public pool.
    • Women: go for a one-piece swimsuit or tankini for modesty. ActiveSG allows bikinis to be worn, but check in with other swimming establishments on proper swim attire.
    • Kids: one-piece swimsuits are the most popular. Rash guards also provide protection from the sun.
  • Microfibre towel: not all pools provide free towels. Microfibre ones absorb a lot of water and are compact and lightweight to be carried around in small bags.
  • Rubber flip-flops: stow your canvas shoes away and swap into rubber flip-flops when walking around the slippery pool.
  • Sunblock: make sure it’s sweat and waterproof so it doesn’t get washed away while you’re swimming. SPF 30 is sufficient for an hour-long swim. Reapply every 2 hours.
  • Water bottle: believe it or not, you sweat a lot while swimming. Staying hydrated is necessary to prevent heatstroke.

Other swim gear you might need:

  • Swim googles: keep your eyes dry and irritant-free with a pair of anti-fog, UV-protected lenses for swimming in outdoor pools.
  • Swim cap: reduces chlorine exposure, as well as improves aerodynamics in the water.
  • Chlorine-removal shampoo: also removes harsh chemicals from swimming pool water that’ll dry out hair.
  • Body moisturiser: chlorinated water is drying for the skin. Lather up after a shower to keep your skin from drying out.

If you’re swimming with kids, remember these useful add-ons:

  • Floaties: for younger, less confident swimmers. However, they should not be replacements for a life jacket and should be worn while supervised by an adult.
  • Water toys: small pool-safe toys can keep kids engaged while splashing about.

You can get all these items on Amazon Singapore. Don’t forget, Amazon Prime members get to enjoy free delivery all eligible orders, including those from Amazon US and Amazon Japan. Plus, it also comes with free 2-hour scheduled delivery on Amazon Fresh for orders above $100, and movies and series on Prime Video. Subscription starts at $4.99/month or $49.90/year.

Besides the pay-per-entry rates, those who need more swim practice can purchase a 30-day swim pass from $40.30 or the 8-visit swim pass from $17.60. The latter gives you 2 free visits, so that’s essentially $1.76/visit.

Grab a pool noodle and work on your flexibility and conditioning in Aqua Fit Deepwater ($160 for 8 sessions), or stick to the shallower 1.35m end with Aqua Gold ($160 for 8 sessions). The latter is a less intense group workout that focuses on your stamina and balance.

The SP Graduates Guild is a lesser-known recreational clubhouse, even amongst Singapore Polytechnic alumni. Stepping in, you definitely won’t miss a large free form swimming pool in the middle of the clubhouse.
