Just recently, we bid goodbye to ORTO Yishun which offered 24-hour prawning and fishing, a trampoline park, and the popular BKK Bistro & Bar.
If you’re still mourning about losing that hangout spot, you’ll be delighted to learn that they have recently relocated to the West. It’s situated just opposite Haw Par Villa, so here’s a glimpse of what awaits you at ORTO West Coast:

Go prawning to catch your own seafood
Westies in search of late-night prawning places can add Prawning @ ORTO to your list. Have a go at catching big head prawns at their 2 expansive prawning ponds. Prawns are released every 1.5 hours from 11am-2am, so strategic prawning peeps might want to plan their trip around these intervals.
Prices start from $22/pax for an hour of prawning, which includes a drink, a rod, and bait. Don’t worry if you suay and don’t catch anything after hours of anticipation, as guaranteed prawns are provided to ensure you still get to relish some seafood after the activity.
Besides drinks, you can also order bar bites like chicken wings ($8.90) and fries ($6.90) to munch on while prawning.
The grill is provided FOC for you to cook your catch. However, if the thought of preparing your own food seems like a day’s work in itself, you can get their partner restaurant, 88 SGMY Seafood, to whip up your meal from $9.90. There is also an array of accompanying flavours to choose from, such as salted egg and mala.

Spend game night with your friends at Ignite Spaces
Those looking for a spot to host game night can consider Ignite Spaces. For just $12/pax, you’ll have full-day access to their collection of 400 different board games.
Besides popular classics, you can also find locally designed games like Kopi King and Teabbles.
They also have console games equipped in their Cozy Rooms, with weekday rates starting at $24/hour and weekends at $30/hour.
There are crowd favourites like Mario Kart and Overcooked to play with your buds.
Feel free to bring in your own food and drinks during the gaming session. Alternatively, if you prefer to just sit back and chill, there’s Netflix and Disney+ for you to binge watch your favourite series.

If you’ve been longing for a taste of Thailand but can’t hop on a plane just yet, a visit to Kinn Derm might be a temporary fix. With Thai chefs at the helm, they whip up mouthwatering dishes like Soft Shell Crab Pad Thai ($16.80) and Mango Sticky Rice ($12.80).
Food aside, Kinn Derm brings the essence of olden times Thailand to life with their imported furniture and kitchenware.
In addition, the restaurant livens up in the evenings on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, where musicians take the stage and serenade you with Thai, Chinese, and Cantonese songs.
The restaurant is currently running a few promotions, including 1-for-1 Chang beer tower ($68) from 12pm to 6pm daily, as well as weekday lunch deals ($6.80) featuring dishes like Basil Chicken Rice and Boat Noodle.

Those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth can go straight to After Hours.
For those with adventurous taste buds, After Hours carries unique gelato (from $5) flavours like Soya Bean Milk with Dough Fritters, Grape Yakult with Oreo Bits and Watermelon Soju. They also have various concoctions of refreshing Iced Shaken Tea ($5.50) and Sodas ($6).
It’s located near the campus, and NUS students can enjoy a 10% discount by flashing their student cards from Mondays to Thursdays.

“Underwater” dining experience with mermaid performances
While Sebastian may argue that life under the sea is better, the reality is that we can’t survive underwater. However, if you’ve ever yearned to be part of their world, a visit to The Mermaid Bar can offer you a glimpse of that magical realm.
This place might be a dream come true especially if you or your little ones have been captivated by The Little Mermaid movie that was recently released. The restaurant’s built-in aquarium isn’t just mere decoration; every night from 7.30pm, you can witness live mermaid performances. They’ll interact with guests, waving and even blowing kisses.

Visit ORTO West Coast
ORTO West Coast is the latest late-night hangout spot for Westies to add to their list. However, its prime location – just a 5-minute stroll from Haw Par Villa MRT – makes it a tempting destination even for Easties who might want to venture westward to discover what this new site has in store.
