Mooncakes are already appearing on supermarket shelves, which can mean only 1 thing: Mid-Autumn Festival is around the corner. This year, the festival falls on 25th September 2026, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate beyond gathering the fam for mooncakes and tea.
You can stroll through light-ups, make your own mooncakes, or even meet other singles through a festive workshop. Here are some Mid-Autumn Festival events happening in Singapore to keep yourself busy.

1. Sanrio Characters Moonlit Garden at VivoCity
Take pics with giant Sanrio characters & play carnival games
Appealing to both kids and grown-up Sanrio fans, VivoCity has been taken over by adorable Sanrio Characters in a special Mid-Autumn concept until 27th September 2026.
There are 6 larger-than-life installations to explore at the Sanrio Characters Moonlit Garden, including a Cinnamoroll garden lined with hanging lanterns and a Hello Kitty lantern walk decked out in fairy lights. One of the biggest photo ops is a 7m-tall Pompompurin perched on a giant mooncake, complete with oversized teacups you can climb into for pics.
Giant Sanrio characters are scattered throughout the mall as well, so you can go on a mini treasure hunt taking photos with all of them.
It’s not just photo-taking either. At Kuromi Carnival Kingdom, there are Sanrio-themed carnival games, a mini train, and a photo booth.
Sanrio collectors can additionally pop by the retail pop-up on Level 1 near Chagee for Mid-Autumn-themed merch, lanterns, customisable name plates, and more. Pompompurin will also make special appearances on 19th September for meet-and-greet sessions, with a qualifying spend of $80 in a single receipt required to attend.

2. PAssionArts Festival 2026
Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in the heartlands

You don’t necessarily have to head into the city centre to soak up the Mid-Autumn vibes. PAssionArts Festival 2026 brings arts and cultural programmes right into Singapore’s heartlands, with its wider 2026 festival spanning neighbourhoods around the island and centred on community-created art.
For its September Mid-Autumn celebrations, there are many locations to choose from, so chances are there’ll be something relatively close to home.
A highlight is the Kampong Glam PAssionArts Festival on 19th September, which will have a carnival-style art village where residents can try activities such as air-dry clay and bookmark painting. Stick around for the lantern procession and cultural performances too.

Over at Eunos on 19th September, the festivities include mini mooncake keychain-making, clay rabbit and mooncake painting, as well as a large-scale diorama incorporating batik and kinetic art. The Admiralty edition on 20th September will illuminate the night with a large fish lantern installation, alongside lantern-making, lion dance, and face-changing performances.
Head down to a location close to your home if you want something that feels less commercial and more like an old-school neighbourhood Mid-Autumn celebration.

3. Lentor Modern
Make snowskin mooncakes & bring your furkid on a lantern walk

Northies can head down to Lentor Modern for An Enchanted Mid-Autumn, where festive activities will take place throughout September.
For those with kids in tow, Little Cultural Explorers takes place on 19th September from 2pm-4pm, where kids can try Chinese calligraphy and make mooncake origami. There is no minimum spend to attend this programme, although registration is still required.
Then, during the Mid-Autumn Festival itself on 25th September, there’ll be games, lantern riddles, and a community lantern walk after sunset, with pre-registration required. The best part for pawrents: pets are welcome to join. Dress up the kids or furkids for a Mid-Autumn-themed outfit competition, and you stand to win a $100 GuocoLand e-voucher.
4. Science Centre Singapore

If you’d rather celebrate Mid-Autumn by looking at the actual night sky, Science Centre Singapore’s Celestial Nights: Mid-Autumn Edition puts an astronomy-meets-nightlife spin on the festivities.
From 19th to 27th September, visitors can embark on the free Celestial Trail, a self-guided route connecting Science Centre Singapore with the neighbouring Japanese Garden. Along the way, keep an eye out for celestial-themed displays and learn more about the moon and other objects in our solar system.
Things get more fitting for the festival on 25th and 26th September, when you can take part in moon viewing and stargazing, and catch Moon Legends: From Myth to Mission, a live digital planetarium show at the Omni-Theatre. The show weaves Mid-Autumn legends together with modern lunar exploration. A $4 ticket includes the planetarium show as well as access to the Main Observatory for telescope viewing, subject to weather conditions.

Then, get your groove on at MOONBEATS: AFTERDARK, happening on 26th September. The night kicks off with an outdoor silent disco parade before the party moves into Science Centre’s galleries, where DJs will be spinning through the night. Tickets are $25 online until 25th September, or $35 at the door, and include a complimentary drink.

5. Moonlight & Affection by GaiGai
Meet your potential bae while making mooncakes

If you’ve been joking about finding someone to admire the full moon with, perhaps this is your sign.
Dating agency GaiGai is putting a festive spin on the typical singles mixer with Moonlight & Affection, a singles mixer with a mooncake-making workshop on 20th September. Rather than standing around awkwardly wondering who should say hello first, you’ll have something to keep your hands busy while getting to know the other singles in attendance.
The hands-on format means the event is less of a straight-up dating mixer and more of a social gathering where you happen to be meeting singles along the way. And even if sparks don’t fly, at least you’ll leave knowing how to make a Mid-Autumn treat.

6. Gardens by the Bay Mid-Autumn Festival 2026
Walk through fantastical lantern worlds & 1,000 hand-painted lanterns

For the classic big-scale Mid-Autumn light-up experience, Gardens by the Bay is an obvious one to bookmark.
From 12th to 27th September, its free-access outdoor gardens will be illuminated by large-scale lantern displays following character Fenbao and her friends through a fantasy world of Mid-Autumn motifs.
Expect plenty to point your camera at. Moonlit Garden has glowing flowers leading towards the moon, while Waterfall Fantasy brings illuminated fish into the mix. There’s also The Dream Forest, a mystical woodland installation, and The Voyage, where Fenbao and friends embark on an adventure aboard a giant celestial whale.

Another highlight is the Colonnade of Lights, where you can admire 1,000 colourful hand-painted lanterns created by people from different walks of life. Once you’re done snapping photos, swing by the Supertree Grove marketplace for street food, carnival games, and family-friendly rides.
There will also be craft activities and performances on selected dates, including DIY rabbit lanterns, an LED Lion Dance on 12th September, and a Dragon Dance finale on 27th September.

7. Paragon Mid-Autumn Lumière
Spot 50 one-of-a-kind rabbit sculptures

Mid-Autumn decorations don’t always have to involve glowing lanterns. At Paragon, the festival is getting a more contemporary art-inspired makeover with Mid-Autumn Lumière.
Its centrepiece is a collection of 50 bespoke rabbit sculptures, created in collaboration with Raffles Design Institute and ART:DIS Singapore. Each piece was designed by a different artist, so no 2 rabbits look exactly alike. The designs are also inspired by Mid-Autumn traditions and folklore, then reinterpreted through contemporary art.

They’re cute enough for photos, but there’s a charitable element too. The rabbits can be “adopted” for $800 each, with all proceeds going towards ART:DIS to support persons with disabilities through the arts.
On selected days, shoppers can also take part in candle-customisation workshops with a combined spend of $80 at Paragon, while kiddos can get Mid-Autumn-themed face painting and balloon sculptures for free. Live contemporary and traditional instrumental performances will take place on various dates till 25th September.

8. Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2026
Make lanterns, solve riddles & join a traditional procession

If Chinatown is normally your go-to for Mid-Autumn Festival, be prepared for things to look a little different in 2026. There won’t be the usual large-scale lantern installations lining Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road this year. Instead, celebrations have shifted towards community-created lanterns and heritage activities around Smith Street, Kreta Ayer Square, and Banda Street.
From 11th September to 4th October, visitors can pen their own well-wishes onto lanterns that will gradually form part of the community displays. The main festivities take place on 19th and 20th September, with traditional activities and cultural performances.
Head down on 19th September at 2pm for a lion dance and wushu showcase, a traditional lantern-making talk, lantern riddles, and a community sing-along. There’ll also be hands-on activities such as paper cutting, Chinese calligraphy, fan dyeing, and a lantern-painting competition.
Once evening rolls around, join Light a Lantern, Share Your Blessing, a community lantern procession accompanied by mooncake and tea appreciation. There are even lantern riddles presented in all 4 of Singapore’s official languages.
Admission to all Mid-Autumn events at Chinatown is free of charge.

9. One Punggol
Celebrate Mid-Autumn with the community

If you’re looking for another wholesome, free community celebration, One Punggol’s Mid-Autumn Light-Up is happening on 13th September from 6pm-10pm, in partnership with PAssionArts.
The community celebration will feature lantern displays and cultural performances, alongside traditional arts and crafts that both kids and adults can get hands-on with. You can even try your hand at Chinese couplet writing.
And because no Mid-Autumn celebration is complete without mooncakes, there’ll also be complimentary mooncakes up for grabs while stocks last.
