Late night date ideas
Each year on 14th February, it’s common to sight couples proudly cradling floral bouquets as they sashay down the street – a profession of their love for each other. The last thing you want to do is to unintentionally neglect your S/O on this very special day.
For those of you who’re usually occupied with work, you may be finding yourself scrambling for last-minute date night ideas. If this is you, this list will save you from the wrath of bae this Valentine’s Day. These ideas are great for evening dates and outings that’ll last well into the night.
Note: CNY 2021 hours may differ.
1. Flex your prawning skills for a fresh AF dinner
This place would be familiar if you’ve tuned into Singapore Social on Netflix before – Hai Bin was the place featured during cast members Mae and Vinny’s prawning date in the pilot episode.
Live out this scene in real life over a relaxing prawning date. Rates start at $20/hour and come with rods, nets, and bait so you can kick back and have a heart-to-heart talk while waiting for your catch. You’ll get to grill the prawns you catch at on-site barbecue stations, and pair them with Hai Bin’s hot sauces.
If your luck runs thin with catching prawns, opt for a drink and meal at the in-house Beer Garden. Order some finger food like mutton satay ($10) and onion rings ($7) or head for Western staples like fish and chips and chicken chop (both $13.90) if you’re famished.
The ceilings and pillars of the Beer Garden are draped with fairy lights and artisan light bulbs, giving the dining area a rustic and romantic ambience. The best part is, they’re open 24 hours, so your date can stretch on to the wee hours.
Rates: 1 hour – $20 | 3 hours – $36 | 10 hours – $100
Address: 6 Tebing Lane, #01-04, Singapore 828835
Opening hours: 24 hours, Daily

2. Stargaze and have a picnic under the night sky
Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk is dark enough to see stars on a clear night
Romance and astronomy may not come to mind as an instant relation, but the constellations that make up your star signs sure do.
Head on a good old-fashioned date to gaze at stars – it’s extremely budget-friendly! Just grab a picnic mat and park yourselves at one of these free places that have minimal light pollution to catch nature’s galactic art in the flesh.

- West Coast Park
- Changi Beach Park
- Changi Boardwalk
- Yishun Dam

3. Challenge each other to a bowling showdown
Striking some bowling pins is a terrific way to get rid of all that pent up stress after a hard day’s work. Enter K Bowling Club that’s glammed with Tron-like neon lights and pulsating beats.
It easily resembles a night club that’s jam-packed with activities like bowling, arcade games and karaoke. Throw in bar drinks and snacks for good measure and you’ve got yourself an entertaining evening ahead of you.
Bowling (from $11/pax) takes centre stage here, with lanes that are illuminated by groovy lights. Once you’ve maxed out your scores, hop into a karaoke booth (from $6) to serenade each other. Don’t just end the night there – duel over a game of pool ($2/game), darts ($1/game), or old-school arcade games ($1/game) like Puzzle Bobble.
A little bit of competitiveness in a relationship just might spark something positive.
Book a session at K Bowling.

4. Zoom around a go kart circuit
Take your date to the tracks at The Karting Arena if you’re looking for an unusual Valentines’ date filled with thrill. Chase each other down till the very last lap, like when you first chased each other romantically.
You have eight-10 laps to determine who’s the fastest by the end of the night. All the karts here are electrically powered, which means easier acceleration and handling, and less noise.
Racing simulators of the outdoor track
Beginners can opt for a First Timer Package (from $40/pax) which comes with two simulator sessions and one fun karting session. Those with more confidence can delve straight into Fun Karting (from $30/pax). If you’ve run out of laps and are still raring to go, head for their retro Daytona USA arcade games ($2/game).

6. Go night cycling along the east coast
Ask any Eastie about their ‘hood and they’d be quick to tell you that there’s no shortage of romantic spots. Get away from the hustle and bustle of town and whisk your partner away to East Coast Park for a leisurely cycling date after sundown.
Start from the car park at East Coast Lagoon Food Village. There’s a 24-hour bike rental shop – Area E Bikeshop (Coastline Leisure) that’s just a two-minute walk away.
For a relaxing night, you can easily cycle along the main route of East Coast Park towards Marina Barrage and back. But if you’re on a fitspo kind of date, consider doing more challenging routes through park connectors that’ll bring you to Eastie ‘hoods like Tampines and Changi Village.
Cycling at night may not be a conventional activity, but the perk is that the routes will be less crowded, and you don’t have to battle the sun and heat. Not to mention, the night view along the coast is pretty darn scenic with the lights from ships out at sea and planes flying overhead.
Refer to this Eastern Coastal Park Connector Network cycling trail guide to customise your own route.
Rates: $12/hour | $4/every subsequent hour

7. Conquer themed mini golf challenges together (Closed)
Playing golf is not a daily affair for many of us. But that doesn’t mean you can’t try your hand at putting your way through an Instagrammable indoor mini golf course. Work those hips and take a swing at mini golf with your date at Holey Moley Golf Club.
Challenge and watch each other embarrassingly struggle to get the ball in the holes – it’ll be loads of fun.
With 27 different thematic mini golf courses, spanning from Game of Thrones to Mario Go-Kart, they make great photo backdrops for memorable pictures.
In between turns, you can grab cocktails, milkshakes and food from the bar. Don’t hesitate to order their special Valentine’s Day cocktail Love Struck ($18++) that has a sweet blend of cherries, cranberry juice and gin. With dinner, drinks and games all in one place, Holey Moley makes a perfect spot for you to lay out all your V’day moves.
Dim lighting, hanging vines and neon lights set the stage for a romantic evening out.
