Haidilao hotpot at Ice Magic
There’s little many of us wouldn’t do for a good hotpot sesh with our friends and with Chinese New Year around the corner, your next reunion dinner can get a whole lot cooler – literally.
You’ve heard of Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice, Singapore’s largest winter playground with frosty subzero temperatures. This January 2023, they’re hosting a Haidilao pop-up restaurant where you can enjoy a toasty steamboat in the snow. New experiences like snowboarding and skiing lessons will also be available.
Haidilao hotpot dinner in “winter”
Hotpot is best experienced on rainy nights in Singapore, when the weather’s cool and breezy. If you’d like to take it a step further, make a booking as a group of 2,4, or 6 at Ice Magic where you can dine in temperatures as low as -10°C.’
Near the entrance of the facility, the ice bar has been taken over by Haidilao, complete with a dining tent adorned with colorful fairy lights as well as bar seats.
Dive into one of 2 set options – Hi Magic Beef or Hi Magic Pork. These come with some of the restaurant chain’s popular ingredients like their signature prawn paste, sliced fish, chicken, vegetable platter, and cheese tofu.
All these will be served on an tables and chairs carved out of ice – because why not? No worries about freezing your butts off as the seats come with a little cushion for insulation. Each table also comes with a layer of plastic for cleanliness.
Meals also come with pre-mixed spices for toppings as well as a soya bean drink.
We’ll admit it – “the cold never bothered me anyway” is a phrase that doesn’t not apply to most Singaporeans. Diners will get a complimentary set of winter jackets and boots but if you’re susceptible to shivers, be sure to put on extra layers, a beanie, and gloves.
Did we feel cold? 10/10 yes. But the table could agree that made the piping-hot Haidilao meal somehow tasted better than usual. Watching the ingredients on the table frosting instead of defrosting was also quite the experience.
Although this will be available daily, you’ll still want to make your bookings as early as possible as slots are bound to run out fast. Bookings are open from 13th January 2023 onwards.
While prices are also a little steep (from $248/2 pax), your reservations also come with admission to the winter playground (U.P. $45/adult) so you can bask around in the snow before or after your meal.
Price: From $248 for 2 pax, $488 for 4 pax, and $698 for 6 pax (tent seats)
10% early bird discount for 14th-15th January 2023
Date: 13th-29th January 2023
