Now onto the booze. JUST WINE includes 2 series – the Fine Collection series and the Classic series. No biasness here as the curation of both series were carried out by wine specialists via a blind-tasting session.
Fine Collection series
The Fine Collection consists of these top 5 picks – most of which have won 4 silver awards in the 2022 London Wine Competition. You can get them in-store at any FairPrice Finest and FairPrice Xtra outlet, or online at FairPrice Singapore.
While Germany is known to be the land of bratwurst and beers, you’ll find that their wineries don’t fall short from its European peers. The semi-dry Kloster Eberbach Riesling Rheingau Feinherb ($39.90) has a moderately sweet taste with a strong acidity and punchy finish. It’s perfect for pairing with spicy dishes, cured meat and a rich pot of fondue.
If you’re planning a steak dinner, the Finca-Montalvillo Crianza Rioja ($45) from Spain is the way to go. The experts shared that it’s a sweet tannic wine that matches best with red meat and tapas.
There’s a reason why France and wine are basically synonymous – their vineyards follow long-standing traditions to produce quality wines.
Château de Ruth Côtes du Rhône Villages Grande Sélection ($39.90) is no exception. The wine is made to give a smokier taste, and is on the drier end. Couple it with some roast meat or a plate of pasta and you’ll have a chef’s kiss combination.
The Domaine de l’Amandine Côtes du Rhône Blanc ($37) is sweet-scented with layers of peach and honeysuckle, and you can expect the taste to linger in your mouth after taking a sip. This wine goes well with savoury shellfish dishes. Or, you can also whip up a lighter menu and get a cheese soufflé that’ll compliment the drink.
For those who prefer a dark ruby drink, the Domaine de l’Amandine Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret ($39.90) has a deep aroma of red fruits with a slight earthy flavour that pairs well with hearty poultry dishes and casseroles.
Classic series
