Meet Ah Ma from How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies

Suckers for sad movies will have probably seen How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies. Even if you haven’t seen it, your FYP of late might be full of teary-eyed reactions to the film. Whatever the case, there’s a meet and greet session with Ah Ma on 24th June at Suntec City. This session also comes with a screening of the movie, so you can meet Ah Ma and watch the hit show all in one evening.

First released on 30th May, How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies is the first full feature film by director Pat Boonnitipat, whose previous works include dramas like Bad Genius and Project S: Skate Our Souls. It’s the highest-grossing Thai film to ever have hit Singapore’s shores, and one of the top performing in the last 6 months too.

The 126-minute-long tearjerker, inspired by the screenwriter’s relationship with his own grandma, follows the life of a young man, M, who’s a bit of a bum. He’s broke and desperate for money, so he volunteers to take care of his Ah Ma, in the hope that he will stand to inherit her wealth. As the movie progresses, he learns that no sum of money can replace family.

What will the meet and greet session entail?

The event will kick off at 7:15pm with a screening of the movie – and you’d best arm yourself with a box of tissues. You will get to meet Usha Seamkhum, who plays Ah Ma, and director Pat Bonnitipat himself, at 9:45pm, AKA after the movie is over. You can then ask all the million-dollar questions you have and may even be lucky enough to land a photo op with them.

How can I get tickets to the meet and greet session?

Tickets are available on the Golden Village website, with each ticket priced at $18. If you’re a Golden Village Movie Club member, you’ll enjoy a $2 discount, which works out to $16 a ticket.

This is already an additional session that was organised after the earlier meet and greet rapidly sold out; it’s best you book your ticket before this opportunity is lost too.
