Eatbox in Tekka Place
If there’s anything that will never die, it’s a Singaporean’s love for food. We’ve gone gaga over Chatuchak Night Market, Shilin Night Market and Artbox; and if you’ve missed these food fairs no thanks to the pandemic, Eatbox is a permanent food market at Tekka Place with up to 18 stalls and free admission.
18 food stores & interactive murals for IG
Organised by Invade, the folks behind Artbox, Eatbox has graced Downtown East with its presence several times over the years. But unlike all the previous pop-up fairs, their latest edition at Tekka Place is permanently here to stay in a 9,500 sqft food hall filled with 18 food vendors, covering international cuisines and fusion fare.
Neon ambient lights aside, there are also interactive murals done in collaboration with local artists to serve as fresh backdrops for your next IG post or TikTok video. You can view the whimsical displays and local food-inspired works right outside the entrance along the walkway, with murals changing every six to eight months.
And of course, there’ll be food – lots of it. Come hungry to stuff yourself with the Truffle Shuffle ($12.80) by Butcher The Burger Bar, Nasi Lemak ($4.50) by Satay Ummi or freshly made Shrimp Onigiri ($5.90) by Okinawa Onigiri.
Thai grub like mookata (from $10.90) from Chikata will also be available for some piping-hot BBQ in the evenings with friends.
Look forward to skipping the queues here, as they’ll be implementing an online ordering system in the future to make ordering, paying and collecting food fuss-free. Stay tuned to Eatbox’s website for the full list of eateries.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the space as other than Eatbox, Invade will also be taking over one third of Tekka Place with an instant-noodle themed playground, pop-up retail stores and a thematic experience centre. These will be opening on the 24th of September, so do remember to mark your calendars.
