We talk about Death Note, death stares, and feeling #ded. But death and dying? It’s typically a no-go conversation for many of us. Still, the new Woodlands Memorial has quickly become the talk of the town, with stunning architecture and fancy amenities.
The largest memorial complex in Singapore is the first out of 4 of its kind by NEA, featuring next-level funeral facilities for multiple religions. Soon, there’ll even be a garden-like columbarium for families to bid goodbye to their departed loved ones.
9 storey space, with wake halls that come with bedrooms & shower

Located in Woodlands Industrial Park, this memorial complex is a massive 10,000sqm facility with a total of 9 floors. Should you wish to plan a funeral, this new facility is not one to gloss over.
3 floors of the facility are dedicated to funeral parlours, within which there’ll be 14 funeral halls that are said to cater to all religions. The smallest hall holds up to 60 pax while the largest can fit up to a thousand.

Considerably a fancier take on void deck wakes, the halls here come with private rooms, bedrooms, and even bathrooms with shower facilities for loved ones who wish to stay the night. One of the smallest halls, the Deluxe Hall, is priced from $1,800/day, inclusive of free-flow drinks like packet drinks, soda, and hot beverages.
There’ll also be dedicated Christian and Buddhist halls.

Air-conditioned columbariums – for various religions – take up another 2 storeys of the building. While they are not fully completed just yet, we hear there’s going to be a garden-like columbarium, coined the Sky Park & Sky Haven Memorial, that’s opening in June 2023.
The all-inclusive 24/7 facility also houses a cafe and flower shop that sells wreaths and flower baskets. There’s also going to be a carpark within the facility with 170 lots.

The eco-conscious among us may also be glad to know that the roof of the parlour is decked with solar panels that can generate tonnes of energy – enough to power 866 4-room HDB flats for one year with Singapore’s sun.

It’s no secret that our population is ageing, which is why Woodlands Memorial won’t be the only funeral complex around in 10 years time. 3 more are in the works at Mandai, Bukit Batok, and Ang Mo Kio. And from the looks of things, these will all be pretty interesting “departure terminals” as far as things go.
