Things to do near the upcoming TEL5 stations
As a Westie myself, my impression of the East is mostly Changi Airport or Tampines. But now that the Thomson-East Coast Line 5 (TEL5) stations are opening in the 2nd half of 2026, it’ll be easier than ever to get to the Bedok South region. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of things to do near the upcoming Bedok South and Sungei Tengah MRT stations, to help you explore new experiences.

Bedok South MRT Station

Residents in the Bedok South region can enjoy better connectivity once Bedok South MRT Station opens. In case this improved access isn’t enough to convince your friends to visit you at home, there are also a whole bunch of activities around for you and your buddies to enjoy.
1. SuperBowl Siglap

Spare some time on a day out with your friends for a game of bowling at SuperBowl Siglap. With rates going for as low as $5.50/game, you can add this to your list of affordable hangout spots.
And to make things even better, depending on the day, the bowling alley closes at midnight or even at 1am, so you’ll get to bowl the night away after a supper run, at least until you need to catch the last train home.
SuperBowl Siglap is conveniently located in Siglap Community Club, right at the exit of Bedok South Station.

2. Yoganescence

If your idea of fitness is less about exhilarating strikes but more about going zen, you might enjoy a class by Yoganescence. They hold classes across various locations, including Kew Green, a condo located right next to Bedok South MRT Station, but their most popular class is the outdoor class at East Coast Park, where you’ll find inner peace with the ocean view as your backdrop.

3. Kew For Coffee
Pet-friendly home-based cafe

Home-based cafes have been popping up all over Singapore, and one worth checking out is Kew For Coffee, tucked away along Kew Drive. The cafe is only open from Fridays to Sundays, so pop by for a weekend cuppa joe with your furbabies – you can check the Kew For Coffee Instagram page before heading down to see if they’re open.
When Bedok South MRT Station opens, Kew For Coffee will just be a 5 to 10-minute walk away from the station exit. If you’re having trouble finding it, just keep your eyes peeled for the line of cartoon frogs waiting for their caffeine fix. Oh, and fun fact, these are inspired by the real frogs that you can spot in the area.

5. Laguna Practice Driving Range

If there’s one thing about golf, it’s that it takes a lot of space. That usually means golf courses end up tucked away in further-out areas, making them a bit of a trek to get to. Luckily for golfers, Laguna Practice Driving Range will soon be easily accessible via Bedok South MRT Station, and will just be a very short walk away from the station exit.
While some golfing spots require a membership to enter, such as the nearby Laguna National Golf & Country Club, you’ll be glad to know that this driving range is open for the public to practice their shots too.

Sungei Bedok MRT Station

In case you missed the memo, Sungei Bedok MRT Station is not just slated as a TEL station, but it’ll also be the new terminus of the Downtown Line. That means commuters will be able to switch between both lines here, making journeys across the island a whole lot more convenient. As for its name, Sungei Bedok is named in reference to the Bedok Canal, which the station is built next to.
6. Bedok Food Centre

Grab a quick bite with your makan kakis at Bedok Food Centre, also known as Bedok Corner, for a fuss-free food hunt. Getting to the food centre will soon be easier than ever, with Sungei Bedok MRT Station built right next to it.
There are tons of food stalls here, so you’re spoilt for choice – share a plate of satay with your friends, or beat the heat with some traditional local desserts.
7. Bedok Park Connector
Leisurely walk with a view of the canal

Take a stroll along Bedok Canal as you go down the Bedok Park Connector. This path connects Bedok Reservoir all the way to East Coast Park, making for a great evening jog route with some new scenery, or just to have a long walking yap session with your bestie.
And don’t worry about finding the way from Sungei Bedok MRT Station to the park connector, because you’ll be on the path right as you exit the station.

8. Eastwood Park Playground

As you walk towards Bedok Reservoir from Sungei Bedok Station along the park connector, you’ll come across Eastwood Park Playground. This little pocket of nature is perfect for your kids to run around and expend their never-ending energy, with benches around for you to take a breather as you watch over the young ones.

9. Glamping at East Coast Park

Walk down to the other end of the Bedok Park Connector, where you’ll find a whole glamping area at East Coast Park Area G. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a seaside getaway, and enjoy the sunrise from the comfort of your tent.
You can book a glamping tent from services like Glamping City or Glamping Kaki, with rates starting from $150. A variety of tents are available too, ranging from cosy couple tents to larger family tents.
10. Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore
Resort with a country club view
If you’re looking for a staycay in the area away from the crowd, look no further than Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore. This resort is across the canal from Sungei Bedok MRT Station, and it should take you no longer than 20 minutes on foot to get there.
Make the most of the resort’s amenities by lounging at 1 of their 3 relaxing pools, or grabbing your rackets and playing a game of padel. Golfers staying at the resort can also tee off at Laguna National Golf & Country Club – no membership required.
