Singapore Holiday Ideas 2013 for National Day Long Weekend

Many Singaporeans are using the upcoming 4 day National Day long weekend to recharge their batteries through a relaxing holiday. If you have not made any holiday plans yet, don’t worry… here are some great suggestions for you!

To come up with this list, we have personally been to all these places. Clicking on the links will take you to its more detailed write up.

Family Holiday Ideas & Activities

If you have children from 3-12 and haven’t been here yet, Legoland Malaysia has to be the #1 destination for you! For children, a day in Legoland is like the happiness of a thousand childhoods. If you want a more relaxing trip you could always stay over and extend your trip.

Adults will enjoy themselves too, we are basically big kids who still had a great time as you can see in this video below! Also read Wei Ling’s post about our 3D2N JB trip!

Closer to home, the relatively new Marine Life Park offers great family activities. I’m not such a big fan of the SEA Aquarium but Adventure Cove is one of my favorite new Singapore attractions and its very family friendly.

Just check into a RWS hotel and you will imagine you aren’t in Singapore anymore. Sophia recently did up a RWS staycation blog about her time at Hotel Equarius (Great) and Festive Grand Theatre (Not Great).

The Hard Rock pool at RWS which the guests from three hotels can share (Hotel Michael, Hard Rock Hotel & Festive Hotel) has a man made beach and a elongated canal around the pool that is dedicated to kids. Its easily among the top 3 swimming pools in Singapore.

And of course for animal lovers, there is also the newly opened River Safari to check out!

Nearby Holiday Ideas

For nearby getaways, we highly recommend somewhere like Langkawi for couples. The cable car experience there is unlike anything you have experienced and everything there is tax free. Its a perfect destination for those short 3D2N holiday trips. Here is a video of our time there earlier this year.

Another couple favorite is Redang, Malaysia which cost under $300 SGD per person for an entire 4D3N holiday (by coach) with unlimited buffets and great quality snorkeling water.

For somewhere even nearer, Jensen recently blogged about another Malaysian destination in his family trip to Desaru, JB which has reasonably priced seafood and nature orientated attractions. Its just a short drive away!

Wei Ling blogged about her recent visit to Bali, a favourite destination for many. This time she was exploring the other side of Bali away from the usual partying and beaches – the cultural hotspot Ubud!

If you have somewhere else in mind, our preferred airline AirAsia has some great holiday ideas. Just head over to their page and pick a destination, they fly direct to over 17 places including Langkawi and Yogyakarta.

Unique Experiences

Imagine staying in a Kelong! Jensen did just that in his JB kelong weekend getaway. Apart from fishing, island hopping is another great activity provided nearby.

Apart from holidays, you could use the time to discover a part of Singapore you would be surprised even existed.

A while back Jensen showed us Sungei Buloh Wetland was an amazing reserve where you can spot wild crocodiles and get up close with nature.

Another would be visiting Pulau Ubin for a day of cycling and perhaps.. camping overnight!

Singapore Staycations

For couples not looking to spend too much, we hear good things about Quincy Hotel. Their packages are unique and include F&B so its just one all inclusive price you pay.

If you’re looking to spend a bit more, check out Hard Rock Hotel which has been receiving glowing reviews from our members. Staycations at RWS hotels are ideal for families as they give you easy access to the RWS attractions and your kids will LOVE the swimming pool here.

Lastly, if you’re a couple and looking to pamper yourself we recommend W Singapore which in my opinion has the best pool in Singapore and it is the ideal couple staycation option. The pool is open 24 hours so its perfect for those romantic midnight swims under the stars. Its location at Sentosa Cove provides a romantic and refreshing out of Singapore vibe.

Here is a panorama I took during their pool party.
