The Rendezvous Hotel Review

About The Rendezvous Hotel

The Rendezvous Hotel is situated in between Singapore’s most iconic shopping belt and the heart of our cultural district. Its recent transformation was a successful culmination of the hotel’s vision to infuse interactive art into their contemporary interior design, making it a wholesome experience for guests.

Anchored by advanced technology, the hotel caters to the modern need for seamless internet access and convenient facilities.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image2.jpgThe hotel is a site of collaboration for budding and professional artists from all over the world. It draws aesthetic and spiritual inspiration from the surrounding Arts and Heritage District – Bras Basah and Bugis – and everything about the hotel, from its interiors to its staff, focuses on incredible creativity and hospitality.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image3.jpgWith its record of excellent hospitality, we were stoked to finally have a staycation here. The superb location meant Orchard Road was extremely accessible, at a mere 3 minutes’ walk away. Moreover the Cathay Cineplex and the National Museum of Singapore are just across the street, making your stay one filled with activity.

The cosmopolitan bustle in Singapore probably takes a toll on everyone at some point or another. This timely and rejuvenating staycation was a refreshing change from our usual weekends, and you too can enjoy this Weekend Getaway Package rolled out by Rendezvous Hotel! Here are some of the highlights from our staycation.

Highlights from our Rendezvous Staycation

1. Club Privileges

b2ap3_thumbnail_image4.jpgThe exclusive club floor benefits were unquestionably the main attractions of this package. Aside from a welcome fruit basket and sweet treats, the personalised and fuss free check-in – under 5 minutes -was certainly commendable. We were also delighted to be guaranteed early check-in and late check-out, which would otherwise be charged at half-day room rate for all other room types.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image5.jpgThe Club Rendezvous Lounge provides guests with a restful environment to either watch the television or read the papers. They even provide a wireless printer for those who wish to catch up on work. The staff were very courteous and always present to answer any of our queries.

If you love to idle afternoons away just chilling with a cup of tea, the Club Rendezvous Lounge will probably be your choice of hangout for the day, like it was for us.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image7.jpgThe access to the Club Rendezvous Lounge was my favourite privilege. Aside from the availability of all-day light refreshments, we were also entitled to servings of comfort food from 2pm – 5pm and evening cocktails and canapés from 6pm – 8pm. The frequent flow of food will pamper and satisfy those who are perpetually hungry.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image8.jpgThe comfort food menu includes Pasta, Egg & Cheese Prata, Submarine Roll, Mini Burger and Bacon & Egg Focaccia.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image9.jpgThe evening cocktails and canapés include an extensive list of cocktails and drinks to choose from, paired with delicate selections of desserts and finger food.

2. Spa Session

b2ap3_thumbnail_image10.jpgThis definitely came as a surprise because it’s unusual for hotels to include a luxurious spa treatment in their packages. We both had the Royal Thai Massage valued at $148 for 1 hour, and reached the consensus that it was a truly relaxing experience that completed our stay.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image11.jpgWhen it comes to massages, trust the Thais to deliver with their insurmountable skills. As aspiring Physiotherapists ourselves, we can personally attest to the professionalism and competence of the masseurs.

3. Balinese-inspired Swimming Pool and Gym

b2ap3_thumbnail_image12.jpgAlthough the swimming pool and gym are neither extravagantly stunning nor huge, they are well-equipped and regularly maintained. Both are tucked away on the third storey of the hotel, ensuring privacy for the guests.

4. Buffet Breakfasts

b2ap3_thumbnail_image14.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_image15.jpgThe regular hotel stay entitles guests to a complimentary buffet breakfast at the renowned Straits Café. What’s better for us was the option to have it at the Club Rendezvous Lounge as well!

We checked out both, and while the former serves a wider variety of food, we preferred the latter for better quality. Breakfast starts from 7am and ends at 10am. You can expect a mix of local delights and western favourites such as waffles and even smoked salmon!

The Rooms

b2ap3_thumbnail_image17.jpgThe package ($298++) entitles you to a night’s accommodation at the hotel’s refurbished Rendezvous Club Room. Located on the three highest floors of the hotel, the cosy and chic room is clean and more than comfortable.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image18.jpgThe bathroom amenities are provided by French Connection. Those who hate sitting on icy cold toilet seats would also be pleased to know that there is a seat warmer, along with a bidet.

Verdict

b2ap3_thumbnail_image19.jpgWe love that despite its prime location, our stay here was a peaceful one. The only con I can see will be the lack of couple-specific activities, which would make the package even more appealing – while the package entitles you to two movie tickets at The Cathay, we didn’t feel like using them. Nonetheless, it was a great deal considering the benefits we got, on top of a special room rate.

For overseas visitors, there are added privileges such as complimentary local calls throughout and usage of the airport lounge.
