Rainforest Tree House – Hotel & Cafe in JB
Growing up, we’ve all heard about the story and concept behind a treehouse. Admit it, how many of us secretly wished we could get the experience of staying in one? Your time is now, as we found Rainforest Tree House that’s just a 30-minute drive from Johor Bahru.
Here’s everything you need to know about this place for the next time you’re making a trip down to JB.

If you’re looking for something to detox from city life, this treehouse might be just what you’re looking for. It’s located in Gunung Pulai Recreational Forest, so you’ll get views of the surrounding greenery without having to hike up any mountains.

Relax and unwind on the suspended net beds on each floor or snap some pics for the ‘Gram. And of course, no treehouse is complete without a swing, so kiddos and those young at heart can look forward to something that’ll keep them occupied.
Modern cafe food to fuel up on
Despite having that kampong kinda vibe, our dear Millennials and Gen Zs will be happy to know that this tree house has a cafe of its own, Rainforest Tree House Cafe. The menu looks like a hip cafe you’d find here in Singapore, with options ranging from Western cuisine to dessert and coffee – at half the price.

Some of our recommendations include their Aglio Olio Mushroom (RM23, ~S$6.72), Mushroom soup (RM21, ~S$6.14), and Hungary Chicken (RM21, ~S$6.14).

Another cool thing about Rainforest Tree House Cafe is their old-school stone oven. Yes, their toast ain’t baked in any regular oven. Look forward to a serving of Wood Fire Bread that comes with some dips for just RM18 (~S$5.27). Aside from toast, they also have firewood-roasted chicken that is only available at certain times.

Their bakes are also free of colouring and preservatives, so you know you’re getting the real deal.
Overnight stays from RM128/night (~S$40)
If you wish to experience that tree house life, Rainforest Tree House also has accommodation. The rooms come with amenities such as power plugs, bedding, and shower gel. Air-con, on the other hand, is not available – come on, it’s a treehouse. Don’t worry, you’ll keep cool thanks to an electric fan.

You don’t have to worry about doing your business in the bushes, either. There’s also a toilet and shower for guests.
Depending on the package you get and the number of guests, prices start from as low as RM128/night (~S$40). Apart from breakfast and dinner that’ll be provided, you’ll also get to go on a guided jungle trek. To book, simply head down to their website – but fastest fingers first as the rooms get booked out quite fast.

Getting to Rainforest Tree House is an adventure on its own. Book a Grab or drive up if you’re coming from JB City Centre. Afterwards, approximately 300 steps of hiking await, but we assure you that it’ll be worth it. It also serves as an excellent place to grab a bite after hiking at Gunung Pulai Recreational Forest.
Walk-ins are accepted but we strongly recommend you to make a reservation before heading down. Then, unwind in nature and spam those pics to make your buds jealous.
