Open Door Store – New concept store in Tai Seng
With the popularity of events like GastroBeats and Artbox in Singapore, it seems that bougie “pasar malams” are a hit amongst us. It’s a shame that most of them only tend to run for a limited time, though. For those wishing for something a lil more permanent, you’re in luck.
If a warehouse filled with art and goods from local designers sounds like fun to you, Open Door Store may just be your new sanctuary.

Don’t be mistaken. As much as we love pop-up flea markets, this ain’t just another event with rotating vendors. Both its warehouse space and stall owners are here to stay, which also means you don’t have to rush down as you can visit anytime within its opening hours. As the brainchild of Konstrukt Laboratories, Open Door provides a safe and dynamic space for local creators. Think gallery with local art you can take home with you.

This 2-storey factory building in Tai Seng has been neatly divided into 2 sections: the first floor houses most of the food stalls while the second floor is where all the art goodies are.
Upon entering the building, head up the stairs and you’ll be greeted by brands like Cruddy Store and New World Plaza, which are both clothing and home decor stores. The former has t-shirts inspired by Giant Supermarket (from $40) – while the latter has a 1930s Singapore concept inspired by the now-defunct New World Amusement Park, selling posters from $22 and printed tees from $40.

As for art prints and posters you can decorate your room with, check out Shrub and Van Han. Shrub has got quirky handmade candles (from $33) and an array of art prints by local artists, including those from the popular meme page Highnunchicken. On the other hand, Van Han sells hand-drawn cartoons – some as fun-sized as Post-Its, so you can carry them wherever.
