Korean Film Festival 2023 at Golden Village
There’s just something so enthralling about Korean movies; from the stellar acting to captivating narratives, it’s no wonder blockbusters like Parasite have become cult favourites. It also doesn’t hurt that the actors and actresses in them are hella dreamy.
Although my girlfriend couldn’t convince me to catch her favourite idol-turned-actor in cinemas (no shade to Kyungsoo from EXO, of course), the upcoming Korean Film Festival 2023 might prove to be enticing in other ways.
Free Korean movie screenings at Golden Village Suntec City
The best part about this film festival is that it’s going to be screening complimentary viewings of recent Korean flicks, documentaries and short films at Golden Village Suntec City.

The reel of movies that’ll be showing includes Rebound, a high school sports drama that sees a ragtag team of sports misfits coming together to overcome challenges on the basketball court.

If you need an excuse to ogle at silver foxes, then Phantom is definitely your cup of tea. The thriller follows a spy who finds himself in treacherous situations within the Japanese government, whilst carrying out his mission and saving his allies.
Documentaries & other short films, also for free
Nam June Paik: Moon Is The Oldest TV.

Besides your conventional big names on the big screen, there are also showings of documentaries, and yes these are free as well. For the cultured, catch Nam June Paik: Moon Is The Oldest TV and you’ll delve deep into the life of arguably the most famous Korean artist in modern history.
This year, the film festival also shines the spotlight on talented Korean female directors as they’ll be screening a collection of shorter films from the Seoul Women International Film Festival. If long movies are not your thing, these are clocked in at 30 minutes or less, so you’ll still have the energy to do some shopping afterwards.
Book your tickets quickly or try your luck with walk-ins
Your tickets will be released if you don’t collect them 15 minutes before the scheduled screening time so arrive a tad earlier.
You’ll be able to book your complimentary tickets on Peatix, but it’s fastest fingers first, as seats are given out on a first-come-first-served basis. The screenings will be taking place on Friday and weekends, from 27th October to 5th November. To check which movies are playing on which dates, see the full schedule for the Korean Film Festival.
Do come 30 minutes before screening time to pick up your tickets at the film festival’s registration table at Golden Village Suntec. Even if you don’t manage to get tickets beforehand, try your luck walking in as tickets might get released when there are no-shows.
Catch free Korean movies at the Korean Film Festival 2023
As they say, the best things in life are oftentimes free. Fellow Singaporeans no doubt concur as the number of free tickets for the Korean Film Festival 2023 is dwindling as we speak. So, do plan your movie dates ASAP, for some alone time with your onscreen and IRL oppas at the same time.
