Flights to Okinawa from $159
If you’ve wished upon the stars for affordable flights to Okinawa, consider your prayers answered by Jetstar. Come November, the budget airline will be resuming its flights to Okinawa after pausing due to the pandemic. You can choose to fly to Naha Airport in Okinawa or Kansai Airport in Osaka, depending on your preference.
Flights will be scheduled 5 times a week, and then daily from 30th December 2023 to accommodate the peak period. This means we won’t have to camp on the Jetstar website for flights the way we do on Ticketmaster for tickets to upcoming concerts in Singapore.
Procrastinators, here’s one big reason to kick that bad habit – flight tickets go from just $159/pax if you book your tickets from now till 16th July 2023. This would be for travel happening between 30th November 2023 to 21st May 2024. Time to plan ahead, besties.
Unique things to do in Okinawa
Once you’ve settled the flight tickets, it’s time to plan the itinerary. There are plenty of things to do in Okinawa, from visiting beautiful temples to shopping at the famed Makishi Market.
Another must-see place would be the Shurijo Castle, the largest castle in Okinawa. Come prepared with your cameras as this magnificent structure is Instagram, TikTok, and even Threads worthy. It dates all the way back to the 14th century, and you’ll be able to explore the buildings and glimpse how the royal family lived during the Ryukyuan Dynasty.
Cherry blossom fiends can also take part in hanami, AKA cherry blossom viewing. Okinawa has the earliest Sakura blooming season, so those planning a trip over from January to February can witness the mesmerising scenery.
While Japan is known for its delicious ramen, switch things up and try the Okinawan-style soba noodles instead. Unlike regular soba noodles that are made from buckwheat, this local version is made from flour – so you can expect thicc and chewy noodles. Pair it with the Agu pork that’s only found in Okinawa and you’ve got a stellar meal.
