Things to do at Horizon Mall in JB
If there’s one thing Singaporeans love more than a trip to JB, it’s checking out a new mall there. Crossing the Causeway doesn’t seem like much of a hassle anymore when there’s good food to eat, plenty of ways to unwind, and great deals to enjoy.
And now, there’s another JB shopping mall to add to your itinerary. Horizon Mall is the latest addition to the lineup, giving us yet another reason to brave the Causeway jam. Here’s a detailed guide to what you can eat, shop, and do there.

How to get to Horizon Mall?
Horizon Mall is located about a 25-minute drive from both the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints. The most convenient way to get there is by booking a ride via a ride-hailing app, which typically costs around RM25 (~S$7.79) to RM28 (~S$8.72) from JB Sentral near Woodlands Checkpoint. It’s also just a 7-minute drive from LEGOLAND Malaysia, making it an easy stop if you’re already planning a visit there.
For a fuss-free option, you can also book Grab’s cross-border taxi service, which costs around S$110 and takes you from your doorstep in Singapore directly to your destination in JB, including Horizon Mall. If you’re driving in by yourself, there’s also ample parking around the mall, with Touch ’n Go, MyDebit, Visa, and Mastercard accepted as payment methods.
1. DMC Karting
Indoor karting arena with gaming simulator zone
One of the mall’s highlights has to be DMC Karting, home to a thrilling double-storey racetrack where you can take on specialised drift karts, offering a different experience from traditional go-karting circuits in JB. Fitted with handbrake levers for drifting around its 29 corners and speeding down the 25° slope, the track is designed for high-speed thrills. LED glasses are also provided to make the neon-lit circuit feel even more immersive.
There are 2 circuits with varying difficulty levels to choose from. The Standard option costs RM38 (~S$11.83) for 10 minutes and is suitable for children from 4 years old. It gives you access to certain sections of the track, with a speed limit of 25km/h.
For those looking for more of a challenge, the Master option costs RM58 (~S$18.05) for 10 minutes and gives you access to the full track, with speeds of up to 40km/h for racers aged 8 and above.
If sitting in a kart isn’t your thing, the facility also has racing simulators where you can indulge in racing titles such as Gran Turismo 7, costing RM35/hour (~S$10.90). There are also PS5 consoles available at RM30/hour (~S$9.34) for 1 to 2 players, or RM40/hour (~S$12.45) for 3 to 4 players.

2. FunMax
Amusement arcade with different games
The fun doesn’t stop at karting, with FunMax, a popular amusement arcade chain also located within the mall. Step inside to find claw machines, motorcycle racing games, basketball and boxing machines, classic arcade games, and even a football machine, alongside many other options to spike your dopamine levels.
Tokens here are fairly affordable, starting from RM1 (~S$0.31) for 1 token. You can also get 5 tokens for RM5 (~S$1.56), 11 tokens for RM10 (~S$3.11), 23 tokens for RM20 (~S$6.22), 58 tokens for RM50 (~S$15.56), or 120 tokens for RM100 (~S$31.12). Do note that tokens are non-refundable, so make sure to use them all before you leave.
3. Sin Man Kee Char Chan Teng
Hong Kong-style comfort food
If you’re craving Hong Kong cuisine, head to Sin Man Kee Char Chan Teng to satisfy your famished stomachs, conveniently located near the mall’s drop-off point.
Some of its popular dishes include the Beef Brisket Noodle (RM25, ~S$7.78), Salted Egg Pork Steamed Rice (RM17, ~S$5.29), Cheese Baked Rice (RM24, ~S$7.47), and HK-Style Toast With Condensed Milk (RM8, ~S$2.49).
Besides the crowd favourites, you can also try other dishes including the Pan-Fried Chicken Chop Nissin Noodles (RM16, ~S$4.98) and Prawn Silky Egg Rice (RM16, ~S$4.98). They also offer Portuguese Egg Tarts (RM5.50 each, ~S$1.71), and purchasing 3 of them for RM16.50 (~S$5.14) will get you 1 additional egg tart for free.
There are also other dining options around the mall with familiar names such as The Chicken Rice Shop and Hai Kee Kopitiam.

4. Thai Odyssey Massage
Award-winning Thai massage & wellness spa
One of the more established massage chains in JB, Thai Odyssey Massage is a convenient spot to unwind after a long day of shopping and exploring. With 10 outlets across JB, the chain offers a range of traditional Thai massage treatments in comfortable and clean settings.

You can opt for their full-body Thai Traditional Massage, with 1- to 2-hour sessions ranging from RM140 (~S$43.93) to RM219 (~S$68.72). Other options include the Thai Aromatherapy Massage from RM160 (~S$50.21), or the more indulgent Herbal Aromatherapy Massage from RM289 (~S$90.68).
For something shorter and simpler, go for a 15-minute Head Massage or Shoulder Massage, both at just RM39 (~S$12.24).
5. Matsukiyo
Popular Japanese drugstore & pharmacy
Matsukiyo is a name that certainly rings a bell among beauty enthusiasts. As one of Japan’s largest drugstore chains, it offers a wide range of both Japanese and international beauty products, healthcare items, and daily essentials. Browse their shelves for everything wellness, ranging from skincare and cosmetics to hair and body care.
Beauty care brands here include barenbliss, Dazzle Me, Nuegrey, rom&nd, and peripera. I’m nowhere near a makeup expert, but I was told that their products all came at fairly affordable prices.
What caught my eye, however, were the viral Keana Nadeshiko products. Their 10-piece Rice Masks are priced at RM39.90 (~S$12.42), while the 170g Rice Pack costs RM69.90 (~S$21.76) and the 30ml Rice Cream goes for RM79.90 (~S$24.87), among other products.
6. Village Grocer
Large supermarket with fresh produce
One of the favourite pastimes of JB-goers has to be grocery shopping, and they will be delighted to find that Horizon Mall has its very own Village Grocer. One of the biggest homegrown supermarket chains in the country, it’s a handy spot to pick up groceries before the drive home.
While there are plenty of products to choose from, some of the good deals we spotted include Skippy Peanut Butter Creamy/Chunky 500g at RM19.29 (~S$6) per jar, Loacker Quadratini Crispy Wafers Assorted at RM15.99 (~S$4.98) per packet, and Kellogg’s Special H Forest Berries 300g at RM29.89 (~S$9.30) per box.
There is also a bakery located within the supermarket for you to take a break and munch on some pastries before continuing with your shopping.

7. Calisto Vision Care
Optical shop with designer sunglasses & spectacles
Calisto Vision Care offers a curated selection of designer and fashion frames from brands such as Gucci, Oakley, and Montblanc. Beyond frames, the store also offers prescription lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses, with frame-and-lens bundles starting from RM238 (~S$74.08). Those looking to splurge can also upgrade to premium and branded frames from RM298 (~S$92.76).
The complimentary lens option comes with Blueray 420 lenses, but you can also upgrade to Photogrey lenses for an additional RM50 (~$15.56). These light-sensitive lenses automatically darken when exposed to sunlight and clear up indoors.
Alternatively, opt for a combination of Blueray and Photogrey lenses for RM150 (~$46.69). Drivers can also choose Photogrey Driving lenses at RM150 (~$46.69), which are designed to adapt to changing light conditions, reduce glare, and improve visual comfort.

8. Jungle Gym
Animal-themed indoor children’s playground
Jungle Gym is a fun way for kids to burn off some energy in between shopping stops. Kids can clamber through rope tunnels, whizz down slides into ball pits, bounce across trampolines, and race around a mini pedal-car track.
A day pass costs RM35 (~S$10.89) for kids under 2 and RM66 (~S$20.54) for those aged 2 to 16, while parents or guardians can pay RM10 (~S$3.11) to enter. On weekdays, there’s also a special rate for the 1st hour, with admission priced at RM28 (~S$8.71) for children, followed by RM20 (~S$6.22) for each additional hour.

If you’re planning to make regular trips back, consider signing up for the Jungle Gym Club membership, which is currently available at a discounted rate of RM288 (~S$89.70) for non-MyKid holders, down from the usual RM450 (~S$140.15).
With that, members can enjoy a special rate of RM30 (~S$9.34) per visit, along with perks such as discounted rates for workshops and the gym’s Jungle Cafe, birthday privileges, and loyalty rewards.
9. Mr D.I.Y
Home-improvement store chain
Mr D.I.Y is Malaysia’s largest home-improvement and lifestyle retail chain, known for its wallet-friendly prices. While there are also outlets in Singapore, its Malaysian stores generally offer more affordable prices, making them worth a visit if you’re looking to stock up on household essentials.
The stores carry a huge variety of everyday items, spanning home improvement, household goods, furnishings, electronics, car accessories, along with stationery and even sports gear.
10. Toy stores such as Mr.TOY & Tataa & Friends
For the young & young at heart
Bring the little ones along for toy shopping at MR.TOY, a one-stop shop packed with toys and games for different ages. Here, you can browse building blocks and construction sets, dolls, action figures, and other outdoor playthings.
Over at Tataa & Friends, the selection leans more towards character-themed finds for a wider range of ages. Browse a wide range of blind boxes and collectibles, including popular character series such as Kimmon, Sanrio, and Joke Bear. There’s also branded character merchandise featuring Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll, alongside other collectibles and accessories.

11. Drink stores such as Chagee & Zus Coffee
Quench your thirst with a cup of coffee or milk tea
Every shopping haul deserves a drink in hand, and you’ll find plenty of options around the mall to keep you refreshed. The ever-popular Chagee is one of them, with popular picks such as the Da Hong Pao Milk Tea (RM12.90, ~S$4.02), White Peach Oolong Milk (RM11.90, ~S$3.71), and Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea (RM14.90, ~S$4.64).
If you’re after something hot, ZUS Coffee also has plenty to choose from, including the Signature Spanish Latte and Yuzu Thunder, both priced at RM13 (~S$4.05). Matcha fans can go for the Raspberry Matcha or Signature Matcha Smoothie, both priced at RM16 (~S$4.98).
12. Outdoor playground
Outdoor fun for the little ones
Step onto the linkbridge at Level 2, and it will lead you to the outdoor playground overlooking the neighbouring golf course. While it’s not the biggest playground, there are still a couple of different slides, elevated platforms, bridges, ramps, and climbing areas to keep the little ones entertained.

Beyond shopping, the mall also has plenty of greenery and seating areas where you can take a breather between stops. Its open-air layout lets in plenty of natural light, while giant ceiling fans keep the space breezy.
It may be a little further out than some of JB’s more convenient malls, but the extra distance is part of its appeal if you’re looking to explore somewhere a little different and away from the usual crowds.
