The cafe has another branch in KL, but its newest outlet in JB is located in Taman Johor Jaya. It’s only a quick 10-minute drive from Toppen Shopping Centre, making it easy to swing by after a shopping spree or IKEA run.

Come hungry, but also come camera-ready because Niko Niko Onigiri is packed with IG-worthy corners.
The highlight is no doubt the fish tank filled with plenty of goldfish. It’s easily the most popular seat in the house, so swing by early if you want to chope a spot with the tank as your backdrop.

If you’re coming with your crew, go for the group seating area under a skylight – you’ll get soft, natural lighting for both your food and OOTD shots. There’s also a mural of a boy munching on an onigiri behind the table, adding a playful pop of colour to your pics.

Oh, and not really something you can pose with, but there’s an onigiri plushie displayed in a glass casing on the floor by the entrance – a cute little detail that’ll make you smile as soon as you step in.

Niko Niko Onigiri, like its name suggests, is best known for its freshly made-to-order onigiri.
Early birds can consider the affordable breakfast sets available from 8.30am to 11am, with prices starting from just RM6.50 (~S$1.98). You get 1 onigiri, plus a bowl of miso soup and a fresh salad. Choose from ingredients across 3 categories, including options like egg mayo, natto, chicken floss, and smoked duck for your onigiri.

While onigiri might be the star here, the rest of the menu is just as oishii. There’s also a selection of comforting Japanese mains like Teriyaki Don (RM17.90, ~S$5.46), Curry Katsu (RM20.90, ~S$6.38), Unagi Ochazuke (RM29.90, ~S$9.12), and Signature Cream Udon (RM18.90, ~S$5.77).

And don’t leave without trying their Strawberry Matcha (RM14.90, ~S$4.55) – it’s a fraction of the price you’d pay in Singapore. Drinks are served in cups printed with the cafe’s adorbs onigiri mascot too.
It’s also worth mentioning that the mains here start from just RM13.90 (~S$4.24), and even the priciest dish on the menu is priced at an affordable RM33 (~S$10.07). Safe to say, your stomach – and wallet – will leave happy.
