Construction-themed playgrounds at Tampines GreenEmerald
If your kids can’t walk past a construction site without stopping to gawk at the big excavators and trucks, there are playgrounds in Tampines that will probably make their day.
At Tampines GreenEmerald, kids can live their Bob the Builder dreams at construction-themed play areas decked out with excavators, trucks, climbing structures, slides, and more. There are several other free playgrounds scattered around the estate too, so once they’re done pretending to operate heavy machinery, there is still plenty to explore.
What to expect at Tampines GreenEmerald’s construction-themed playgrounds?
The construction-themed playgrounds span 2 of the 4 play areas in Tampines GreenEmerald: one near Block 963B and the other, a mini play area, at the Sky Garden of Block 960, where the multi-storey carpark is.
Mini trucks & a trampoline near Block 963B

Over at the construction-themed playground near Block 963B, you’ll be able to find truck and tractor structures housing mini slides, puzzle games, as well as a simple rope course and climbing setups.
Given the low height of the structures and relatively simple play equipment, we reckon younger kids will get the most fun out of this playground.

Little ones will also be delighted to find that there’s a stationary truck meant just for roleplay driving, complete with passenger seats so groups of friends can take turns “driving” and “riding” the truck.

Furthermore, a rectangular trampoline sits in the middle of the play area – perfect for the young ones to get some cardio in while having fun jumping around. This is especially great for kids with a lot of energy to burn.
Mini excavator & monkey bars at Block 960’s Sky Garden

The other construction-themed play area at the Sky Garden of Block 960 is considerably smaller, but we imagine it’s plenty exciting for kids nonetheless. Here, kids can bounce on a spring ride, or put their thinking caps on with puzzle games such as the traditional playground tic-tac-toe.

There is also a mini excavator structure, where younger kids can safely experience monkey bars at a low height.
This play area is a simple one, without the regular slides and higher elements that we are used to seeing at other playgrounds, but tots will probably have a blast running around and learning the ropes of a playground here.

Additionally, the abacus and clock puzzles are beneficial for early learning and development.
You can access the Sky Garden on Level 8 via the lift at the multi-storey carpark.
What other play areas are there at Tampines GreenEmerald?
Besides the construction-themed play areas, there are 2 other playgrounds around the estate for kids to explore.
Zipline & swirly slide for older kids near Block 963C

Just straight down from the construction-themed mini playground, at Block 963C, there’s another playground targeted at older kids, involving higher elements. Here, kids will get to have a go on the zipline and climb through simple rope courses.

At the end of a climb up through a rope tunnel, a swirly slide awaits. This slide is steeper than the ones at the construction-themed play areas, so parents should pay more attention when supervising their kids.
Looking at this playground, even this adult-aged writer found it hard to resist clambering up and having some fun.

One thing to note, though, is that part of this playground is built on elevated ground to accommodate the climbing elements, so kids will have to climb down a small hill as they head further up. It was a little hard to maintain our balance while slowly walking downhill, so parents, guardians, and smaller kids have to be extra careful.
Carousels & slides for kids of all ages near Block 961A

If your kids fall into both the older and younger age ranges and you need to keep an eye on them all, you can take them to the playground near Block 961A, where structures and elements suit various ages.
The playground is split into 2 with a footpath down the middle, roughly segregating the area meant for older kids from the smaller one meant for younger kids.

At the larger wing of the playground, 2 different climbing structures lead up to a tall tube slide. There are also playground puzzles and some rope climbing elements.

What’s more, there’s also a carousel – something that’s rare to come by in neighbourhood playgrounds – where kids can have fun spinning around.

Across on the other side, you’ll be able to find baby swings, as well as a lower climbing tower and tube slide set.

A smaller, seated carousel is also planted at the corner for the little ones.
Exercise corner for seniors near Block 961A

While it’s not exactly a play area, parents or seniors bringing the kids down for playtime aren’t left out either. Near the Block 961A playground, there is also a dedicated senior exercise corner with different equipment meant for exercising various parts of the body.
You’ll find such corners dotted around the estate as well, sporting different ranges of equipment, so you can take a breather while walking between exercise venues.
