Groom runs to his wedding at his bride’s challenge

Jogging is a great habit to get into. It does wonders to improve your physical health, and it also provides opportunities to meet new people if you join communities of people who share the same hobby.

Such is the case for this man from Thanh Hóa Province, Vietnam. He first met his wife at a marathon club, and on their wedding day, the new groom ran 19KM to her house to pick her up for the wedding.

Here’s how he managed the feat.

On the morning of 11th July, Đàm Danh Tùng, from Thanh Hóa Province, ran a total distance of 19KM on foot to attend his own wedding.

His rather unconventional choice of commuting method was to fulfill a challenge set forward by his bride. Both the groom and the bride were enthusiastic joggers, so they wanted to commemorate their big day with something special to look back upon.

To make it to the bride’s house in time, the man had to set out at 4AM. It took over 1.5 hours for him to arrive at his destination, drenched in sweat but with a brilliant smile on his face.

One refreshing grooming session later, he was ready for the wedding ceremony. In light of the COVID-19 situation, the couple kept their wedding feast to a modest one among only family and close friends.

As VNExpress reported, Danh Tùng is an active member of a local marathon club. It was there that he met the woman who would go on to become his wife.

Previously, in June 2020, the man participated in a long marathon across Vietnam, from the northern border province of Lạng Sơn all the way to Cà Mau – the country’s southernmost point. The journey took a whopping 284 hours to complete.

It was during this period that he bonded with his now-wife, who was traveling with the running crew to provide support.

It’s wholesome to see that their love story came to a satisfying conclusion.

Exercising has both physical and social benefits

The special challenge has added more meaning to the couple’s already memorable day. Surely, it’ll be something they’ll remember with fondness for years to come.

We wish the newlyweds all the best in the next chapter of their lives. At the same time, let their story be an inspiration for us to pick up healthier habits.

If you find exercising alone boring, perhaps consider joining a club as the man in this story did. It helps you stay motivated, and who knows, maybe you’ll come away with some new special bonds as well.
