Butcher displays “takeaway only” sign for raw pork at shop
Due to the impact of COVID-19 in several Vietnamese cities, many F&B outlets have stopped serving dine-ins and switched to selling takeaways only. That is all well and good, right up until a butcher decided to jump on the bandwagon.
The “pork for takeaway only” sign hung in front of the man’s stall got many netizens wondering how he’d serve his raw meat under normal circumstances.
Here’s how the funny sign has sparked an Internet discussion, prompting netizens to share photos of other questionable takeaway products.

Last Sunday, Facebook user Nguyễn Thị Phương Quyên took to Thánh Riviu – a group where people exchange reviews about all things of interest – to share a funny picture.
In it, a butcher is seen working behind his raw meat counter. In front of the stall, there’s a handwritten sign that reads, “Pork. For takeaway only. Thank you.”
As many netizens were quick to point out, the sign implies that if it wasn’t for COVID-19 stopping dine-ins, his customers would have eaten the raw pork right at the stall.
Perhaps the butcher didn’t really think it through when he put up the sign.
Regardless, his quirky mistake has prompted many people to share photos of funny takeaway signs they’ve come across.

A common picture shared by several commenters shows a sign that states “House for sale.” Underneath it, however, there’s another note saying, “for takeaway only.”
It is unclear whether the note was added by the house’s owner as a joke, or if it was a prank from an anonymous jester.

Meanwhile, another Facebook user named An shared a photo of a barbershop with a sign saying “takeaway haircut” – again, likely a joke from the owner. We can see from the picture that this barbershop is located in Bình Thạnh District, Saigon.

And it would seem many barbers share the same sense of humor as well, as other photos depict similar signs spotted at several other barbershops.

Complimenting the joke, netizen Nguyễn Hoàng Tú posted a screenshot of a troll Facebook comment captured from somewhere.
It reads, “In light of the pandemic situation, I provide takeaway haircut services to avoid large crowds. Simply leave your head at my shop, and I’ll ship it back once I’m done with your hair. No extra delivery charges.”

In fact, someone even took the time to draw a demonstration of this exact scenario, showing a barber tending to the hair of a severed head.
It’s impressive to see just how much effort people can put in for the sake of humor.
Stay positive, and stay safe
The resurgence of COVID-19 has no doubt sparked economic hardship for a large portion of the population. The quirky signs provide some much-needed lightheartedness to help lift everyone’s spirits between all the concerning news of the escalating patient tally.
When this is all over, there will be a day for more joy and celebrations. But for now, let’s surround ourselves with Internet memes to pass the time while we refrain from traveling and public gatherings.
