If you haven’t visited the capital of Vietnam, now’s your chance to grab cheap flights and explore the many things to do in Hanoi. Starting on 8th March 2024, Vietjet Air will be releasing promotional tickets from S$80 for one-way flights between Singapore and Hanoi every Friday. And yes, that’s inclusive of all taxes and fees.
Plus, the airline is introducing new routes from Hanoi to Melbourne and Hiroshima from S$170, giving you more options to get to Australia and Japan for cheaper.
Vietjet Air pretty much operates as a budget airline when it comes to Economy seats. You’re given a free 7kg carry-on baggage and have to purchase an additional allowance should you wish to check in a bag. You can also pre-book meals like Banh Mi (VND50,000, ~S$2.72) and Beef Rice (VND80,000, ~S$4.35).
Having said that, there are options to upgrade your tickets to Deluxe, SkyBoss, or Business Class. When you choose Deluxe or SkyBoss packages, you get the same seats as Economy but with extra perks such as check-in baggage and meals. SkyBoss offers additional benefits like being given priority to choose seats and flight insurance.

Business Class, on the other hand, is an entirely separate section with comfier seats and access to the airport lounges. These seats, located at the front of the plane, have a 180-degree reclining function to ensure your journey is a relaxed one.
Although the airline is not part of any alliance or loyalty programme as such, it does codeshare with a few other airlines. Some routes may see you flying on Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, or Thai Airways even if you have booked a flight with Vietjet Air.
Plane enthusiasts who like to know more about the exact plane they’ll be sitting on, this fun fact is for you. Vietjet Air’s fleet consists of Airbus A320s, Airbus A321s, and Airbus 330s.
The airline is based in Vietnam and flies from Singapore to 8 cities in the country including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. Within Vietnam itself, they’ve got a rather comprehensive network of domestic flights that can bring you to even the smaller cities such as Hai Phong, Quang Binh and Da Lat.
Once you’ve landed in either of these major Vietnamese cities – Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi – you can easily get international flights to Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Myanmar, Hong Kong, India, and China.
In case you weren’t aware, Vietjet Air already has 58 flights a week from Ho Chi Minh to major cities in Australia including Sydney and Melbourne.
In fact, the low-cost air carrier is launching 2 new routes from Hanoi to Melbourne and Hanoi to Hiroshima with airfares starting at S$170 one-way. So, you’ve got new options to get to Australia and Japan, with the bonus opportunity to explore Vietnam on the way.

With this new route, Vietjet Air will have 8 direct flights from Vietnam to major cities in Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. That means a great deal more options for getting to Japan for those who don’t mind breaking their journey to see 2 countries in a single holiday.

Direct flights from Singapore to Hanoi take about 3.5 hours. Vietjet Air has 1 flight daily that departs Singapore at 2.55pm and arrives in Hanoi at 5.25pm local time.
Apart from Vietjet Air, Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Vietnam Airlines also have direct flights to Hanoi. However, a quick check online shows that one-way airfares from these other airlines start at S$210 and go up to S$840.
So, there is plenty of reason to celebrate such low airfares from Vietjet Air. Once you’ve decided on a trip to Hanoi, set an alarm for the upcoming Friday to enjoy the promotional rates from S$80 one-way tickets. These apply to flights dated anywhere between 8th March and 31st December 2024, excluding the peak holiday seasons.
There will also be promotional airfares for all of Vietjet Air’s international routes. Although you’ll have to go via Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi, Vietjet Air can get you to other popular destinations like Seoul, Busan, Taipei, Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Bali.
Perhaps the most well-known among visitors is the Hanoi Old Quarter area, identified by its signature narrow streets and handicraft shops. For entertainment, check out the Water Puppet Theater or visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Those who appreciate history and architecture can find centuries-old buildings around the city such as the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and the Hanoi Opera House. There are also several famous temples and pagodas including Huong Pagoda and Tran Quoc Pagoda.
And if you want to explore the natural wonders, head to Hoan Kiem Lake and Ba Vi National Park. Anyone who wants to cruise down the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay also first has to get to Hanoi then make their way to the river via car or bus.
