Valentine’s Day will soon be here and we’ll be seeing lots of girls clutching giant stuffed toys and red rose bouquets. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or a cynical disbeliever, it’s always nice to celebrate an occasion like this – even if it’s just with a simple meal.

V-day dinners are typically expensive, but there’s no need to splurge in the hundreds range – we’ve sifted through restaurants in Singapore to help you find the most affordable dinner sets for Valentine’s Day 2018, all at no more than $60 per person.

1. Fumée by Habanos – 3-course meal + drink for $34/person

A gastro-pub isn’t the first thing that jumps to your mind when you’re searching for a romantic dinner spot for Valentine’s Day, but consider Fumée by Habanos for their 3-Course Set Dinner. In line with their casual chic decor and relaxed atmosphere, the V-day menu is elaborate but won’t break the bank.

The set dinner is just $34 per person, and you’ll also be privy to a welcome drink. The Smoked Salmon Gravlax is plated prettily in the shape of a rose, with caramelised onions and salad beneath.

As for the main, you’ll be sharing a platter of food: Half Boston Lobster, Chicken Roulade, Mac & Cheese, Roasted Veggies,and a dish of Mushroom Sauce. All sweet tooths will be pleased that dinner ends with a Tiramisu.

2. Bliss Restaurant – 4-course meal + passionfruit mocktail

Although housed in Cheng San Community Club, Bliss Restaurant’s alfrescoarea is still ideal for an intimate night under the stars. You’ll also be spreading the Valentine’s Day love by spending your money for the greater good at a restaurant that supports equal employment opportunity by hiring people from a range of backgrounds – including those with physical and mental disabilities, as well as ex-offenders.

With a 4-Course set for just $35 per person, you’ll be more than satiated here. You can choose your main from three different options: Red Wine Braised Australian Lamb Shank, Pan Seared Fillet Mignon, or Grilled Norwegian Salmon.

3. Saveur- 3-course meal for $36.90/person

Saveur serves up quality French fare that won’t leave you strapped for cash. With a 3-Course set at $36.90 per person for Valentine’s Day, you’ll be sighing in satisfaction over the food. Try their Lobster Bisque for your starter, before choosing from some of their bestsellers – including their Duck Confit with Truffle Mash and Steak Au Poivre – as your main.

4. Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar – 3-course meal + glass of wine for $44.50/person

No doubt about it, Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar has a solid all-day breakfast menu but their location near the Botanic Gardens also makes it perfect for a romantic night out. At $99 per couple, their Love Me Tender 3-Course dinner set is a steal especially since it comes with two complimentary glasses of house pour wine.

We like the sound of the Pork Chop with Caramelised Carrots or the Pappardelle with Oxtail Ragu. But leave some space for their Mixed Berries Chou au Craquelin, which is choux pastry baked with crumble and filled with fresh whipped mascarpone cream and mixed berries.

5. Sugar Lips – 2-course meal + drink for $24.50/person

Show bae just how much she colours your life by bringing her to Sugar Lips. Other than having its walls decorated with neon paint splatters, its desserts and dishes are also in all hues of the rainbow. For $49 nett per couple, you can choose either a set with 2 savoury dishes, a dessert, and drink, or one with 2 desserts, a savoury dish, and drink.

For savoury dishes, choose from a range of pasta including Tom Yum Seafood Pasta and Creamy Smoked Duck Pasta. Their pasta comes straight from 49 Seats, a cafe that specialises in affordable Western dishes. As for desserts, choose between their Rainbow Fantasy Cake and Chocolate Truffle Seduction Cake. Sugar Lips also has a selection of waffles, with flavours like red velvet and chocolate.

6. Maru – 4-course meal + cocktail for $39/person

Maru is a relatively new fusion joint at Tanjong Pagar that gives Japanese dishes a modern slant – izakaya-style dishes with an American and Japanese twist. For Valentine’s Day, check out their 4-Course set which includes an interesting range of dishes with a salad, appetiser, main, and dessert.

Privé’s got your all your romance night needs sorted for $52 per person for their 3-Course set menu. With gourmet choices like Citrus-Cured Norwegian Salmon to start with and mains like Red Wine-Braised Beef Brisket, Privé promises an intimate space for some meaningful conversations with your Valentine.

8. El Tardeo – 3-course meal for $$58/person

Don’t limit yourself to classic French restaurants – Spanish joint El Tardeo offers a menu that’s sure to spice things up. This Valentine’s Day, treat yourselves to a 3-Course set meal at $58 per person. With a full bar and neon red lights, the space is swanky and fun.

Whet your appetites with two serves of tapas – Scallop Ceviche and Grilled Pork Belly with Octopus – before moving onto the mains. Both outlets of Cali Cafe & Bar are tucked away in their respective Park Avenue Hotels – one at Rochester and one at Changi –  and will work well for a night out wine-ing and dining. The set dinner is $108 per couple, and comes with complimentary glasses of rosé.

If you’re looking for a peaceful night out with a date, The Berlin Bar & Restaurant wouldn’t be that choice. Panko, in one of Haji Lane’s shophouses, is one of Singapore’s few kushikatsu (meat and vegetable skewers) restaurants. With its dimly-lit interior, it’s an edgy space in its Japanese minimalist decor and neon signage.

With Urbana Rooftop Bar being on the 33rd level of Marriott Singapore Novena, you’ll be looking out to skyscrapers on one side and the greenery of Bukit Timah on the other as you dine. For $64 per person, you and your date will be treated to a 4-Course set menu. You can choose to add $28 per person for two hours of free-flow beverages, which includes house pour and sparkling wines.

To start off, they’ll be serving up a Seafood-On-Ice Platter which comes with a luxurious spread of oysters, poached prawns, mussels, and crayfish. For the entree, choose between Roast Black Angus Prime Rib or Pan-seared Barramundi.
