New TART speciality store opens at Star Vista!

About TART

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_3865-Copy.JPGTART is a newly opened concept store at The Star Vista specialising in, you guessed it, tarts! As a huge fan of fruit tarts and other crusty pastries, I’ve been wondering when someone would capitalise on the idea of a store focused on selling these bite-sized pieces of bliss.

TART has two different ranges of tarts available, namely sweet tarts that come in flavours like matcha azuki and coffee, and fruit tarts topped with berries or jackfruit. The tarts come in gorgeously designed boxes of three, six, and twelve, and make a great gift for any occasion. Aside from tarts, you can also enjoy puddings and fruit crushes as you sip on coffee or tea in their cosy pop-up cottage.

The Tarts at TART

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_3878-Copy.JPGFor their mini tarts, we tried their Chocolate, Matcha Azuki, Cookies & Cream, Classic (strawberries, peaches and kiwi), Berries (strawberries and blueberries) and Strawberry Tart. I loved how firm their crust was as it’s a pet peeve of mine when the crust breaks apart before it can even reach your mouth. The cream TART uses for their fruit tarts is also thicker than most without being too cloying or sweet.

A box of 3 tarts will set you back $4.50, 6 for $8 and 12 for $16.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_3881-Copy.JPGWe also tried some of their larger tarts, which are sold either by the slice or as 7 or 9 inch whole tarts. The Blueberry Cream Cheese ($6.90) would be a cheesecake lover’s dream, especially if you’re more into the base of the cheesecake than the actual cake, due to the thick crust of the tart. I would have preferred if there was more cream cheese and less blueberry, as the blueberry sauce did overpower the taste of the tart.

We also had the Matcha Azuki ($7.90) tart, which we loved because the flavour of the green tea really shone through. The cream was very rich, so we would recommend that you share this tart as it might become too jelak after awhile.

Overall, I still think that the mini tarts are the stars of the show at TART, and they make a great alternative to the usual cupcake as either a quick treat for yourself or as a gift to indulge your friends. I’m also excited to see if TART will be rolling out full sized fruit tarts, as I preferred those over their sweet tart range.
